FAU - Minnesota Scoreboard

My prediction is Minnesota 38-17. After a fairly close first half, I think Minnesota's power run game will get to FAU in the second half. Lets hope I am wrong. GO OWLS!!!

I'll say 35-13. Maybe they'll rest the starters while looking ahead to Purdue. We may just come out of that "I" formation. At least we can move the ball that way.

I to, hope that I'm wrong.

Minnesota has scored 97 points in two games, and only allowed 34… an average win of 49-17.

Our offense put up only 19 points against a very average Kansas team and managed only 3 at home.

Our defense is solid, but our offense is sluggish right now. If we have to get into a track meet with the Gophers, look out. My prediction… This one could get ugly.

Fau has a good defense but they stay on the field too much. They might get worn out being pushed around by this team. I live up here and I can tell you the kids are bigger. 275 lb high school lineman are the norm. It is mostly German and Scandanavian decent and many are farmers.
FAU has a 1 dimensional offense right now. All passing. That gives Minnesota something to focus on. FAU has never had a dominant runner in its 5 year history. They've had a good runner. But the history has been the pass.

IF we can avoid the mistakes, especially on special teams, (underline special teams) I don't think it will be a schmear. Both Kansas and OK State got most of their points on short drives. When they started in FAU territory, they could be stopped quite often. FAU is fast which is all about Florida football.

If Sanchez is healty and the line can open up some holes and the run is established, that will catch Minn off guard. It is obvious they are preparing for pass, pass, pass. A good running game will disrupt their game plan.

With all that said I don't have the foggiest idea how this game will turn out.

Last year N Texas went 0-4 in non conference. Got BLOWN away by University of Texas and won the SB conference.

Please Howard do some miracles on the guys this week.

FAU - Minnesota Scoreboard

We have to play some damn good football just to have a chance to make this game respectable - NO MISTAKES which is highly unlikely. This is a young team, so expect the inconsistantcies and mental errors, especially against the teams at the begginning of our schedule.

Our offense will have to play Defense this weekend - By that I mean win the time of possession, control the ball, keep the chains moving - keep the BUS on the sideline.

Is that too much to ask, but that is what we will need from an inconsistant offense, they will have to have the game of their young lifes - too much pressure for the young boys - that is what these games are all about boys becoming men.

Like a broken record, we need to run, run, run the ball effectively to have a change, my take on that is to get the passing game going early and keep the Minnesota Defense on their heels a bit to help establish the run, then we can hopefully settle into more of a controlled offense - the success we have passing the ball will be key. We did not take advantage of a mediocore Ok. St. secondary, so now we have to do it with a more seasoned secondary ???

On defense how do you slow down a BUS, stop him before he gets going …. :o …. :P

That means penetration, penetration, penetration against a very talented front OL by Minnesota. Our biggest weaknest are the runs up the middle - this could be a long day for the D - Plus we don't have a good history of being able to stop these type of brussing power runners, even considering we tend to have a pretty good run defense.

In a nuts shell, the offense and defense needs to have the game of their life - in could happen, my fingers are cross, I am prayering to the football Gods as I type 8-)

I just hope we can play well enough, keep the mistakes to a minimum and make the game respectable enough. I do think that we will be able to hang in for a while at least for a half - should give the kids enough confidence.

One thing for sure these kids will be highly motivated for this game, sometimes when you are presented with a major challenge, it bring the best out of you.

The kids have a huge mountain to climb on Saturday, hopefully they bring enough dynamite to tackle the beast.

Go Owls!!
