It may have been settled and we don't know about it. Who knows.
Remember all contracts have to be approved by the BOT and the next BOT meeting is Jan. 21
Thats what im hoping. Hopefully they at least have a name to tell recruits but just cant officially announce anything.

I have zero inside info on this, but it seems like Brohm could be the guy. Reading the UL message boards, it seems as though is just a matter of time before he is let go. Actually if you believe their posters, he's already gone and they are just waiting for him to take another job to announce it. One guy said Cardinal players told him that announcement could be made as soon as Monday. Also, some newscaster in Louisville today reported that he has interviews with 2 schools for an OC job. I'm guessing we are one of those schools. Ted Hutton has said a couple of times that he knows Brohm is on the short list. Given the lack of rumors about any other candidates, I get the feeling that Brohm IS the short list. I could be dead wrong, but just reading between the lines, that is the impression I get. It makes all the sense in the world. He played for HS. He knows the system. He's a QB coach, just like Nord. He's got NFL experience. He'd be a great addition to this team.
Devil's Advocate:
What do you offer in regards to the fact that he was responsible for the lowest UL offensive numbers in a number of years since taking over the OC position?
I know HS likes his "formers"…and he can override decisions he doesn't like…but does this guy really have what we need?
Nord is a great offensive mind…i'm not sold or sold on Brohm…jury is still out…

What I would say is that UL's offensive numbers dropped because Brohm's brother left for the NFL, as did a number of UL's best offensive players from the past couple of years. I haven't followed the Cardinals very closely, but I'm guessing their struggles had a lot more to do with talent then coaching. When you lose a lot of NFL quality talent, it takes time to recover…ask UM. Plus, I'm sure when Petrino walked, they lost out on a lot of talented recruits who wanted to play in his system.
Plus their new HC wants to run a spread, not the offense Brohm is familiar with.
Really, I don't know much about Brohm. But he did play for HS (who likes him enough to put him on his "short list"), and he has been up for a number of jobs, so other coaches obviously think highly of him. That is all I can go on, and that is good enough for me.

This could mean that we can get a very good OC out of all this.
IMO, being in the middle of recruiting season, I wouldn't expect anything finalized until the '09 signing class is in the books.

Brohm would be great for us, I just don't know how long we could get him to stay.

Also note:
Louisville lost players from the previous year that accounted for over 65% of their total offense but still finished with the 3rd best total offense in the Big East. They were only behind USF and Rutgers. They averaged 5.3 yards per play.
I say that isn't too bad.

Things happen out of the OC control, players graduating, injuries, lack of execution which Owl fans are very familiar with, that will have a reflection on the numbers, but doesn't always give you a true indication of what the guy is capable of.
