I guess I am in the minority here.  I think this was a great idea and a good move on FAU's part.  Turning the push back of the opening of the stadium into a 2M payday is a great move.  It is a one time deal and we pocket money we desperately need.  I am not an Angelos fan (mainly because I know he does not want to be here) but this is a good move.

I agree Dusky; it is a great idea to raise much needed money!  I will not be going, however Michigan State will fill the stadium just fine and we will make a nice buck or two from this move! Unfortunately it will still be a home game for them.  One great thing is that it won't be raining inside the dome–that should help us this time ;D

It will be a pretty time of the year in Detroit…I will def. be there.  You can probably get a spirit flight for $40 including taxes.

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

I don't want to become the resident pessimist, but what if this game at Ford Field gets a dismal turnout. I mean MSU is an hour and a half away from Ford Field (with zero traffic) and FAU isn't exactly a big draw. So what if we only walk away with $500k. Yes, it's still money in our pockets, but it also means only four home games next season, with a likely 0-5 or 1-4 start before our first home game against Troy.

The game won't only draw people for East Lansing. It is going to draw MSU fans and alumni from all over the greater Detroit area. I wouldn't worry about attendance as an issue. This game will draw fans. I just don't like that FAU is losing a home game and playing in Detroit.

There is no doubt MSU will draw fans in Detroit.  It is their first ever games in Ford Field.  They have a huge alumni base in that area.  I'm not worried about that.

As for the rest of the schedule, the UAB game is likely going to be moved back a few years and replaced with a I-AA game to start the season.

Is that speculation or actually in the works? If it is going to happen, it might be a good idea to schedule South Alabama, as we will be playing them in-conference soon enough.

From everything I read UAB has requested to move the 2 remaining games back a year or two.  No doubt FAU would oblige.  That way we make up the home game we lose against MSU.  It's a win-win for everyone.

As long as we get the W, we will need it!

Would have prefered to have played MSU in Soldiers Field in Chicago, more neutral of a location (at least out of the state of Michigan) and would have sold out anyhow with all of the MSU alumni and other Big 11 fans in the area.

But you do what you can and you play with the hand you are dealt, hope we do makes LOTS of cash AND pick up a W!
