This game is not subject to blackout. FAU-Minnesota will be seen everywhere. Here is a list of the blackout games http://proxy.espn.go.com/ncf/gameplan/index?campaign=EGP05&source=LHNDropImage.
The games that are blacked out are done so because they are already on a local channel. Miami-Clemson is blacked out on GAmeplan because it is on our local ABC station. UCF-USF,W.Virginia-MAryland, and Mississippi-Vanderbilt are also blacked out for the same reason, but the FAU game is definitely safe.
The only other time they have blacked out games are games being offered on local pay-per-view like Florida's first two games were.

True, I missed the UF games for PPV blackout reasons although I had the gameplan package. Different venues altogether.

BTW, USF-UCF is on FSN but that may fall under some type of blackout ruling also.

How about getting WTCN on DirecTV? I thought we were supposed to get local channels? I get every religious and shopping channel on earth, but no WTCN!

Check the channel you get the WB on.

FYI…If you have the Sports Pack on DirecTV I'm told the game will be on Channel 641 which is Fox Sports Net North.

I cannot properly express the frustration I endure trying to watch Owls games on TV.

Last night, it was nowhere on my DirecTV system.

Off to the closest local sports bar we went. After 20 minutes of trying to explain to the channel captain how to find the game, I discovered it was only on Adelphia Cable Channel 15. That bar didn't have cable.

Same with the next stop, but this bar was more interested in keeping the Florida game on 27 TV sets. Off we went.

Finally, we found a new place (almost at halftime) - a family-run bar and restaurant that cared and went out of its way to find the game (had Adelphia). The place is The Brass Ring (formerly J.J. Muggs) on Okeechobee Blvd. (west of State Road 7) in Royal Palm Beach. They set up a TV for my FAU daughter and I and we enjoyed at least the opportunity to see the game (and one TD for the Owls).

This place is suposedly a landmark restaurant in North Palm Beach and is now expanding to the RPB area. I encourage all Owl fans to stop by and thank the owners for supporting FAU. I'm sure they would welcome FAU groups from the Palms West area.

But, back to the problem, why can't we get WTCN on DirecTV? We're supposed to get local channels, but not that one? Channel 15 claims to be the WB station, yet I get the WB on WTVX-Channel 34 (4 on cable).

I'm a long-time Troy fan who has now (thanks to my daughter) chosen to follow FAU as my second (local) team. Troy used to have these growing pains (lack of merchandize in local stores, lack of visibility in a state covered with other teams' rabid fans, lack of media coverage and TV showings). Troy still has some of those problems, but I would hope FAU - with its much larger size, political clout and major market status - could get on the stick and imp[rove its marketing.

I guess it's up to us to demand coverage, TV time, merchandise at sports and retail stores, and the like. We should really get a grassroots movement going.

I undesrtand your fustration Bmarkey - it's funny I have no problem getting Bars to tune in to an FAU game, Duffy's, Bone Fish Creek all in WPB to name a few. We do face a problem not only with markeing, but getting people interested in general and it is something you cannot force someone to care about - it will take time. Over the years people know that I'm a big supporter of FAU and it's been interesting this year in particular, more people seems to be starting conversation with me about FAU Football and this includes strangers just because I am wearing an FAU shirt or hat and they have been very impress with our team (being on TV the last three games have been great exposure for us and people now have a better feel for FAU Football, this will hopefully start to get new people interested in FAU and hopefully bring them to games. Again this is a young program and things do take time especially since we are the small fish and people tend to only see and support the big fish and playing with the big fishes will only help.

I have brought Miami supporters to Ok. St. game and they walked away impressed with our team and the same can be said of a former Nebraska player. In time the excitement will be there, let's just hope that we can continue to build what we have now. We can't force people to support FAU, it will only push them away.

By the way, someone that has talked about going to games, will now go just because of the Ad on a Mountain Dew can. So yes I agree that Marketing need to keep FAU in any form of contact to as many EYES as posible - the percent may be small at the beggining, but could have a greater effect in the long run.
