FAU vs SIU

Post

...and please stop with the constant attempt at trick plays.

It's OK to punt and work on field position.

We need a ball control, clock grinding offense.

Like your points overall…

Just a quick call out though:

We're going to "No Huddle No Mercy" (NHNM) style of play, so it's going to be hard to grind clock!

No huddle  - hurry up offense.  That is my big fear.  If our Defense is out there for any length of time, then the offense comes on and goes 3 and out in a minute a two, our "D" will be gassed and guess who get one in the loss column.

What's the rush?  Let's keep there "O" on the field wear them out.  Let's be honest, our passing game is completely unproven.  I like Driskell, but last year he had a habit of trying turn a dying play in to something.  It never turned out well.  Better to through it away, avoid the big loss and get it back on the next play.

While I'm thinking of it, we need two backs in the backfield.  Last year Quez was a threat to run, and had to be accounted for.  Not so much Driskell.  Two backs gives us more looks on the option, screens and short passing game.

You better get over your phobia because the main thing you hear about Tricket and his offense is fast fast and fast.

Don't disagree with you but like irritant said that's what you're going to get whether we like it or not, we don't get to vote.

GO OWLS!

It may work against S.I.  but UM will easily be able to disrupt it.  I've written before, teams already have the designated injury in place.  (Remember Baylor v. OK last year) This allows time for for the defense to get their wind and adjust.  If FAU is rolling with the Trickett offense, look for the defense to suffer a lot of cramping in the warm humid evenings.

Could be worse. Could be a scorching noon game.  :Smug:

Matt C:  with all due respect we are damned if we do and we are damned if we don't.  When we ran a pro-set people would complain that college football has gone to the spread up-tempo offense and we are running an antiquated offense.  Now that we are trying to run the spread, we are worried that we will be gassing our defense (before we have even seen what this offense will really be).  If we score 40 points a game I will take my chances with our defense holding the opponent to 39.  3 and outs happen with every team.

Yep. That will happen. Nothing we can do about it except hope Partridge slows down the tempo if he sees what's happening.

He's saying the cramp is for show to delay the game and give the defense time to rest. It's a good idea that we're probably going to need to use.

No you are completely wrong!  He is saying with the fast possessions (quick scoring and possible 3 and outs) the defense will be out their cramping up.  The other team cheating with fake injuries is a completely different issue.

TOP mid-major teams win with the O!

Look at the list - WKU, Marshall, La. Tech. S. Miss just from CUSA. The top 4 teams IN OUR CONFERENCE score lots of points. As do N. ILL., Toledo and Bowling Green from the MAC. Or Boise St., SD St., Air Force and Col. St. from the Mountain West.

ALL of the above score on average per team per game, 29 points minimum. Meanwhile we are at 22.5 - DOWN from 24 the year before and 26.4 the year before THAT!

Imagine ONE more TD per game or just slightly better, one TD and one FG (10 pts. total). With that, how many more games do we win (or not loses as is OUR case) with that over the past 2 years. with JUST the one extra TD per game; 3 last year and 4 the year before that.

That would mean BOWL games each of the past two years and Charlie is being considered for a higher job, not stuck here at 6-18 and losing our top recruits to other programs. With THAT, imagine where we would be THIS year.

Charlie wins 10 and we look for a new guy BUT we are turned around and moving on and upwards as well - likely into the AAC guys!!!

Go for it Coaches, NO HOLDING BACK ANYMORE! Makes our games exciting to watch with more wins and let's get 20K MINIMUM per home game and start to sell out soon!

Go Owls!!!!
