The reason for the 5 dollar donation is, we are trying to recover the 5,000 dollar pricetag of the event.  If not, it will mean our budget will be cut 5,000 dollars, which means we wont be able to fix cameras, cover events, buy new equipment to make coverage better.

The room holds around 400.

Coyote Jacks isn't wired correctly to receive an outside signal.  (It would be neat to fix this if we had the budget)

If the event doesn't have enough attendance to cover costs, chances are there won't be another one.  So this only hurts future events by not attending because of the teams current record.  People have gone to cubs games for decades with losing records, and still packed the house.

Are you really comparing the Cubs to FAU? lol

It's not fair to the team to not support them just because it has been a tough year of close losses.  North Texas, FIU have had some pretty tough years and still have fans.  Where are all our True Blue Owls?

It's a shame that we don't have a truly funded communications department; even though we act like we have the major.

What's most concerning is that you would have to justify a return on the project…when has that become a staple to the equation??

Personally, I asked to make it a suggested donation.  Sadly, I was overruled on that.
Every Student Government department is rationed its own funds and account.  The Homecoming budget, is around 100,000 for the whole week.  The bonfire is funded from that fund.  I wish we could get that amount of money to put on events like this, they would be amazing!

Wrigley Field is a giant bar, the only reason people go there is because they want to party and "wasted" is the only way to sit through a Cubs game!  ;D

It's not $5 a head that's the thing. It's $5 a head for non students. So maybe $5 a head x 150 people. People don't pay the $5 to park at basketball games you really think they're going to pay $5 to watch FAU play UAB in a room that only holds 400? I don't. I'm not giving up on the team, I'm not just paying $5 to watch them lose. I have season tickets for last 4 years (decided to stop getting in for free with my Owl Card). I will have season tickets next year, the year after that and so on. I will always support FAU but I have no desire to pay $5 to watch this game. In fact if this game was on TV for free I probably still wouldn't watch. Although I am curious how JVC will look

I love that Owl TV is providing this opportunity for our campus community, alumni, fans and friends to watch the game. This is truly a very large step in the history of Owl TV and the university.

Because we aren't in a "big conference" that has guaranteed TV games (SEC, Big Ten, etc.) I'm glad that OwlTV, Athletics and the university found a way to broadcast the game. I'm sure it wasn't easy either and they probably had to jump through all kinds of hoops to receive the rights to broadcast the games.

My hats off to all involved. If I could watch it on the internet, I'd pay $50. Yes - $50. Why? Whether they win or lose, that's not the point. In my eyes, the fact that the students are doing this… and the university supported them… is priceless. I applaud their efforts.

Actually, nevermind. I'll send the $50 anyway. Look for a check in the mail soon, OwlTV.
