FEARLESS PREDICTIONS WEEK SIX FAU vs. FAU
FAU will not lose this weekend. A bold prediction, but it is a bye week my friends and the only action FAU will be seeing is on the practice field or maybe with some young coed after a night on the town. To be young and in college.
Back to the task at hand. This is a much needed break as the Owls are slogging through a very slow 1-4 start to the season. With a road test ahead against a very good ULM team, FAU will need to use the time off wisely to make improvements.
Even though our Owls will be looking forward to next week, I am going to keep the focus on this week and some great games around the country.
#4 LSU (5-0) at #10 Florida (4-0)
The Gators appear to be a new team this year as they continue to climb the rankings. LSU is slipping because the Tigers have struggled the past two weeks against Auburn and Towson. This could be the official coming out party for the Gators. Defense will win this one in a match-up that certainly brings renewed interest to football in Gainesville.
Fearless Prediction: Florida 21 LSU 17
#5 Georgia (5-0) vs #6 South Carolina (5-0)
This game very well could be for the SEC East title. Both Georgia and South Carolina have faced early season challenges and passed with flyer colors. I usually have my doubts about the ability of these two teams to compete on the big stage. This will be the opportunity.
Fearless Prediction: Georgia 31 South Carolina 30
#8 West Virginia (4-0) @ #11 Texas (4-0)
This is going to the gem of the weekend. WVU comes off a 70 point performance against Baylor with QB Geno Smith throwing for 8tds last week alone. The problem is that WVU gave up 63 points in Smith's Heisman worthy performance. Texas is good, but the defense is vulnerable. The Longhorns gave up 31 points to Ole Miss and 36 points to Oklahoma State. WVU should be able to top those numbers. This one comes down to WVU defense. Unfortunately WVU is giving up nearly 33 points per game. My heart is with WVU in this one, but my head says Texas will do just enough.
Fearless Prediction: Texas 45 WVU 42
#21 Nebraska (4-1) vs. #12 Ohio State (5-0)
Nebraska looks to make waves in a BIGTEN conference race that appears to be wide open behind undefeated Ohio State. This game should be a fun one to watch with each team being led by a very good QB. I am pulling for Nebraska and I will go with them against my better judgement.
Fearless Prediction: Nebraska 28 Ohio State 24
Here is to FAU making it through the weekend without losing and to a great slate of college games.
GO OWLS!!!
