We understand he isn't winning but you have to admit the team is much improved. I truly believe quality wins will come next year and if they don't I'll be joining your bandwagon.

Games last year.

If you don't see the improvement from last year…no one will be able to explain it to you.  I would say everyone on here is disappointed at where we are right now, but MOST of us see some light.

What question I didn't see it.
Also no one can explain becuase we as of now are not better we are 1-4 and continue to blow close games.
I feel like I'm in a political spin room with you guys trying to sell a 1-4 team who has 9 turnovers In two games.
The worst part of this team is I have already said the talent is way up yet wins are not coming that's on coaching.
You guys are polishing a turd in here.

I agree with you on a couple of things. 1) Talent is up and 2) Play calling could improve.

However, you continue to reference turnovers. That is on the players. Get rid of the turnovers and we would not be having this discussion.

Turnovers are partly on the players.
The hankerson fumble was a freak play I wasn't even mad about that one.
Coming back and having your 18 year old QB lunch one down feild right after a turnover and right after Wallace had a long run a couple drives before that it TERRIBLE coaching.
When there in 2:56 left and the other team has only 2 timeouts and your on their 40 in a tie game when you have 203 yards rushing and you throw it on 1st in 10 that's TERRIBLE coaching.
As a coach you need to understand your talent and when and when not to do things.

One of the problems is that we are not able to establish a solid running game. Yeah, we get runs here and there, but that's not what this offense is. This is by far a run first offense that we are looking have here…if you don't believe me, go look up stats for Montana St when Wright was there. Those are facts that dont lie.. I remember looking them up when he first got here before last year. He was clearly a 60 run/ 40 pass OC…we are more like a 50/50 offense here and that is a big difference if you ask any coach. Until we get better run blocking (which is on the players) we will continue to spin wheels on offense. You dont recruit good O linemen overnight, that takes time. JUCO guys can only help in a limited capacity. It takes time to build a program.

@Silver Bullet 32…….100% agreed. All great teams have great O lines. 

For all those thinking the Coaches put Hankerson in a position to fail, that was true with the first snap of the game as well! I have zero faith we could have simply run the ball and gottena single 1st down without some luck of broken tackles or something and even then a fumble is still a real possibility with them coming across the line with 9 players to stuff the run and get the ball back on downs or a turnover. ZERO!

His fumble was all on him and the 1st pick was a good shot downfield with single coverage and he simply underthrew the ball giving the db a shot at the ball. The wr should have done all he could to prevent the pick as well. You have to switch to db mode as a wr when a ball is underthrown, even if it means offensive interference!

Both the qb and wr failed in a one-on-one matchup with the Rice db wanting the ball more!

Bottom line is the players had to make a few more plays and the win is in the bag and they did not! The Coaches are on the sideline with the game out of their hands. yes they call the plays but tell me we run three straight and punt (with the rel possibility of a block or decent return) and they get the ball back there is ANY GUARANTEE we win the game. Yes we should, but MANY games every week are blown late after a team has basically shut down the opposing O. They go soft and play not to lose and end up losing a good percentage of the time (again think South Alabama). And then you guys are calling for heads for another reason, the Coaches put the D in a position to lose.

I HATE TO LOSE but this TEAM has to learn to win and they are heading in the right direction. Go Owls!

OC40, what are your expectations of this team?  In your opinion, what should our record be today and what SHOULD we have finished with at the end of the season, in YOUR opinion?

The other item I noticed that I'd like some clarity on is a lot of blame being placed on the coaches for Hankerson firing a deep ball that led to an INT.  Could it be possible that maybe he missed his checkdowns and just tossed the long ball in hopes of a big play?  Why do you expect a freshman QB to come in and be a world beater?

If anyone needs to be fired, it's Wright as his playcalling has been downright awful.

As i watch WKU, I can't help but wonder if our coaching is that bad, or these guys are just flat out out recruiting us???
