Sorry to burst your bubble but college football is about what have you done for me lately and where you will be taken me in the future and non of that looks promising with Howard at the Helm.

That's pretty much the way of the world in general…more, more, more…

Never enough gratitude or thanks.

Re: FIRE HOWARD

I just scanned through our roster. There is a lot of young talent there the hasn't seen a snap. And that is a good thing, but I guess HS won't get credit for that either. Building tradition, one dedicated Owl at a time.

Personally, I would rather keep Howard and FIRE a few ignorant so-called "fans."

I would like to second this motion…

That's the thing a lot of young guys on this team and a lot of young guys not seeing the field. I'm not saying fire the guy but he needs to change his approach. Recruits won't come here if they know there's no chance of them seeing the field their freshman year. We have a lot of talented players, some of the Red Shirts are better than the guys on the field. Even guys like DRich should be seeing time over Avery Holley and not because Holley was suspended but because the young guys are better.

It shouldn't matter if you're an incoming freshman or a 5th year senior, if you're the best at that position you should start. People talk and I'm sure incoming freshman talk to their teammates and friends from other schools about how they like FAU but they never get to play as an incoming freshman and they're better than some of the guys starting.

Like I said I don't think we should fire him but there are a lot of things that need to change. This isn't 1983 anymore, things change, methods change, strategies change. Players are bigger, faster, stronger. He needs to get with the times, the playbook from Miami in 1983 isn't going to cut it anymore

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Re: FIRE HOWARD

Jab you have a point. It would be nice to see some of these guys in the mix, DRich seemed to perform well in the first half last week. I would also think that they don't want to leave the cupboard bare for subsequent seasons. We don't have the "reload" factor like other schools.

Re: FIRE HOWARD

I just started a new thread under recruiting which posts a link to a nice article about quality hs recruits signing at schools where they will get the chance to play right away. Check it out.

I totally agree that we need to play the quality freshman recruits now and build now for next year, If. not, our O-line will have some experience but still be very small AND our skill positions that are strengths now will be gone (qb, wr, te).

I love Howard but he has to get with the times or not only will he be left behind, but more importantly, so will the team!

Re: FIRE HOWARD

What happened to the O-line this season was the worst, worst-case scenario. I don't think we can underestimate the impact that has.

HS can't be expected to patch a line together with bubblegum and bailing wire. Hopefully the younger guys are getting good work in for next year.

Re: FIRE HOWARD

I grew up a fan of Michigan before going to FAU and these are all the same arguments I heard from fans about getting rid of Lloyd Carr.  The guy won a Nat'l Championship and 6 Big Ten titles in 10 years yet people wanted to "get with the times" and run a spread offense like UF's or Texas's.

Alas, 3 years later Michigan has one of the best spread offense coaches on the planet and they also haven't been to a bowl game since 2007.  You are talking about arguably the #1 academic school, #1 stadium, #1 tradition school in the country and they had a 3 win season!  Everybody talks…oh if we were in the 3rd tier, oh if we had a bigger stadium, oh if we had more fans.  Michigan is the benchmark for all of those things in college football and they aren't a top 25 team…so obviously we are all missing what is important to a program.

Michigan is doing all of the things I hope FAU never does…they recruit thugs,  play tons of freshman and break rules in the process.

While we are all in this week to week and a loss to UNT seems like the end of the world…we need to just worry about the program and its identity.  If there is one thing Howard will always give me comfort with its that he is running a clean program and seems to reward players who show hard work and loyalty.

I think its honorable and classy to let the guys that commited to the program and have waited thier turn play.  It builds a reputation for your program that will hopefully bring the type of recruits as an alumni I want to see playing for FAU.  You think Howard should just go back on his word and treat the upper classment like garabage just to win a Sun Belt game?  There is a bigger picture than that.

UF and USC  sold its soul for victory's…I would truly be embarrased if FAU ever had the arrests/issues that their program has had over the last 24 months, I dont care if we won every game by 100 points.  If you need to hire a guy like Lane Kiffen to win…I would rather be a mediocre team.  We dont need to change the values of our program because we are having a rough season in the win loss column.  Thats when you need to hold on to the values this program was founded on the most IMO.

Re: FIRE HOWARD

I am proud of our clean program too!

I am just stating that I beleive the best players should play, no matter their being a 5th year senior or a true freshman. And until a hs recruit actually beleives he will be allowed to come in and contribute immediately, we will NEVER recruit a 4 or 5 star player. Heck, we are lucky to get two 3-stars in ANY given year. I don't want thugs or academically problem players (those will never hit the field anyhow due to admissions or grades), I just want more talented PLAYERS. Until we get a miniumum of 3 or 4 four stars recruits each year, we will NEVER be able to compete (let alone beat!) with ANY of the other programs in-state, including FIU and UCF. Let alone Texas and Nebraska!

Finally, I beleive it is Howards (or his Coaches…but he is the boss and he does set the tone and issue the orders) fault for losing the entire line with NO player returning EVER having atarted a gme. He IS too dependent on seniors and plays them into the ground at times - see our 4th qtr. woes for how many years - heck our O can't even get into FG position MOST of the time when in matters at crunch time at the end of the games. Something any even half-decent team CAN DO.

Last year the D was nearly totally new, this year the ENTIRE O line, next year, the skill positions on O (qb, wr, te)…all gone! AGAIN, THE PATTERN CONTINUES!

All that being said…GO OWLS…BEAT FIU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: FIRE HOWARD

I agree the OL situation has been a disaster this year and coaches are partly to blame.

However, the other part of your post about the 4th quarter and not being able to close.  You know we have the best winning percentage in all of college football for games decided by 7 or less points?  This season is an anomole not the norm.

I'm not sure why you dont think we can compete with FIU (I think we are 7-1 vs them) or UCF (played them in Orlando in 2003 and lost by 5 points when we were D-IAA).  We are not supposed to be able to compete with Texas or Nebraska on the road yet, if anybody thought a program 10 years in would be able to is crazy.

More talented players?  Van Camp, Housler, Lockley and Jean are all NFL caliber players…dont care what scout.com had them ranked as.  Its not about talent its about execution and our players simply haven't done any of that this season or last for that matter.
