we should revisit this post this time next year….I dont think we'll have people asking for his head by then

If things don't improve, there most certainly will be. Next year 3-4 wins isn't going to cut it. We need to be at the very least bowl eligible

Very likely. And the question is regardless of who's in at QB, whether Bracewell/Curtis, JUCO or a true freshman, how many games into the next season will it take before he "gets it" and we can start winning consistently? If it takes too long, we're talking about another sub 0.500 season.

So German is not going to happen at this point?

That is what some here imply, I don't know myself. But I do know we need an insuance policy or two just in case, even if only for depth. Ouir other QB's on hand don't seem to be able to cut it as you see they get no game time, even in preparation for next year.

I've heard (on pretty good authority) that MGIII isn't making it academically.  So… I'd suggest we get SERIOUS looking at other prospects.  From what I hear, he's not coming in next year.

It sounds like MG3 has some issues, both in academics and performance, thus far. I hope that gets resolved because he was supposed to be the best QB we've ever had here.

In any case, I'm in favor of a JUCO and a true freshman as well for insurance purposes.

Here's what's known as QB offers:

- Cord Sandberg - committed to Mississippi State. Even if he wasn't, he has like 30 offers from better schools. Only way we're getting this guy is if he goes away, gets homesick and comes back. But that's a longshot.
- Jake Waters - leaning toward Kansas State, if not, would probably go to Penn State before FAU.
- Tyler Ferguson - so far, we have to beat out Houston for this guy… maybe Oregon State too. But he looks to be our best bet.
- Baker Mayfield - still in the hunt for this guy. If we can't get Ferguson, maybe Mayfield?
- Michael Julian - Has offers from Arizona and Cincinnati.
- Juwan Brown - ? ? ?

If we can't have the first two, maybe Tyler Ferguson (our JUCO) and Michael Julian (our HS)?

Andrew, what do you know about Julian?

EDIT: Julian is apparently pretty high on Indiana, has an offer and has taken visits there. So guess not? Might be hard to beat this

So, going 4-8 or 5-7 with 2 inherited on the road bodybag games (3 if you count USF)…with your first real recruiting class…with a majority of a team that went 1-11…and that wont be good enough?…that's being unreasonable…that's how you get a revolving door installed at the Oxley…if you want this program to stay ranked in triple digits then wish for that…because if you start firing coaches before their recruiting classes even get close to making up a majority of the team, then we will get a rep, and only attract junk coaches….

There is one big difference between this years team and last years…  We are minus a nfl grade hb and coach p. still won 3 games!  How many games would he have won with a stud in the backfield?

Re: Fire pelini

There is a lot of positions need to be addressed before the qbs, but to say German was suppose to be the best ever recruited here. Remember they said the same about Curtis. Think a lot of people will be surprised with the roster and depth chart at qb next year.

Exactly, the best QBs have been those that have seen the field and performed. Allen, Smith, and now Wilbert.

We can have RGIII on the team; if he doesn't see the field it means nothing.
