right, so who do we talk to about this brilliant idea!?

Probably best to start with Program Board and SG and let them take it from there

That's a great idea, I just don't think we have the money for such a large event every game.

First game of the year is fine with me it will be a tradition...but financially the event should be able to support itself with sponsors and vendors

All for it!  Better stock up on bloody mary mix for game day mornings (or beer, or red bull or fill-in the blank).

Talk to Mike Burdman. See what he suggests/recommends

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

I think a good tradition to start is every time our kicker Vinny Zaccarrio kicks the ball, we should all do a good Italian OOOOHHHH....

Re: First Tailgate in Boca

They're apparently already doing this kind of thing in downtown Tallahassee before FSU football games and now UF is going to start doing it too. UF is doing it as half city funds (since they don't throw a JUly 4th event) and half charity, since the United Way is sponsoring it hoping to get donations from people who attend.

They know how to get stages and bands, Program Board knows how to get inflatables, etc. Here are some possible attractions for the event:

Field Goal Kicker Football Game - from Amusement Depot a division of South Florida Entertainment, Inc. Over 325 items for rent and 1000's for sale.

Not to mention locals sellng arts and crafts, tailgaters, and so on. Those are all free. You guys get it.

As someone that was involved in trying to throw an "overnighter" at FAU for our football scrimmages back in 2000 I can say that the university was not quite open to the idea…at the time.  ;) The police were cool enough to call the cheif at home, in bed, at midnight, to see what the protocol was as they were allowing tailgating prior to the scrimmages on campus that fall. Our premise was that there are no time limits to pre game tailgates, so we're just really "early."

Like a lot of things at FAU, this is new to the university, so I would try and grease the skids before just showing up with 500 people, grills, kegs, snow, the works.

I'd try and find info on Texas' tailgating rules and regs so when you speak to the university, you have examples of where it's done and how it works.

Great idea though, especially for the traveling fans, RV lots.

Considering that was eleven years ago, I doubt today's crop of FAU police would be as understanding as they were that evening.  They have tasers today, not pepper spray as that fine young lady showed her prowess with that evening/morning.
