"Representatives from FIU contacted the FAU Athletics ticket office and arranged to purchase tickets for the FIU students that wanted to attend the game.  Therefore, FIU students do not get into the game for free.  Representatives from FIU are paying FAU for the tickets on behalf of their students."

Well, in reality…FIU students that get those tickets DO get in for free…it is just that either the Athletic Department…or (most likely) the Student Government (or a combination of both) of FIU purchased some tickets from FAU for the Shula Bowl .  Dawson wasn't clear on which entity bought the tickets…So, it would be foolish to think FAU (or any other University, for that matter) would give tickets for free to ANY visiting  university…just common sense guys, especially given that the game is to be played at cavernous Dolphins Stadium, not at a small venue like FIU Stadium.

I just hope we both come away with Wins this weekend so that the game finally has some importance for both teams. It's a shame that in the past (in the years we played at Dolphin Stadium) FIU fans have been scarce at that game and hopefully with a little more riding on it, we'll see a good turnout from both sides.

We did this in 2002 and it was successful. We didn't provide buses, but gave away hundreds of tickets (that SG purchased)

If our attendance is low, than so is FAU's because both schools are hovering around the same numbers. FIU Stadium has been pretty packed this season. Here are the attendance numbers for our last 3 home games:

USF game: 16,717
MTSU game: 15,108
ASU game: 15,106

Also, I'd like to add that the FIU administration sent out information regarding the FAU game. FIU students get in free to the game with their Panther ID's and free bus service from campus to Dolphin Stadium will also be provided. I highly doubt FAU is giving them away for free. More likely than not, FIU Athletics purchased a set amount from FAU for students to go.
to me that low for a school that has 10,000 more kids then we a do and has on campus stadium…..but i really hope you guys will get alot of fans to come out for them game

Did you go to the FAU vs. FIU game last year?  I dont think you had enough fans in attendance to start a pickup bball game.

Thank you for all the heads up on our attendance, we really appreciate it.  Especially coming from a program with such a great history of fan support for their school….oh wait, never mind.  I'm glad FIU is doing this for the students since they essentially fund the program via their athletic fee.  I agree that both teams need to win this weekend for there to be that much more riding on the game.    I hope that FIU is taking the ULM game very seriously, our football team has no room to look beyond anyone.  Go Panthers!

I don't think we need to get into a battle of who has had more fans at a game. If we had the same record they had over the last few years I can guarantee very few people would show up to our games as well. If they are coming out now and supporting their team good for them and I hope it continues. Hopefully we can bring a lot of fans to Dolphin Stadium and so can they. I just wish it wasn't always the Saturday after T'Giving. I think I've been to 1 Shula bowl game and that was last year
My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!
