Here are some pictures I found from FIU's game… it's empty…

Ooft! But when you have the longest losing streak in the nation (or something like that) it's definitely hard to draw fans. Hopefully they can get it together and win their non-FAU games in the later half of the season.
The pictures don't really show how many people were or weren't there. They only use one half of the OB for FIU games, so the visitor side is always completely empty.

Not good for them at all with the NCAA stuff. The attendance at the Troy game looked horrible in those pics. Well, I know I'll be in there comes November. Probably Schenleys last time in the OB…and one more time to cheer on our boys.
Go Owls!
How much are tickets for the Shula Bowl? It doesn't count as a home game so students have to buy a ticket, yes?
On a side note: I wish we played Troy down here instead of up there.

Now is the time to start marketing for the FIU game (as well). Would be nice to have FIU worrying about being outnumbered at the Orange Bowl, just as FAU was at Lockhart vs. South Florida….that really needs to be a strong FAU effort to set up momentum for Troy the following week.
There's very little reason (outside of their current loss streak) why an FAU/FIU game couldn't potentially be the same atmosphere as the FAU/USF game. If both teams were doing well, perhaps as they will be next year, it could potentially be a big thing. Otherwise… I wish we had signed a deal to play USF every year, 1 and 1. I'm disappointed that we won't play again until 2010 although I'd like to think that we're going to get some more impressive OOC wins along the way (like Michigan State, Texas, etc).
Heard a rumor that we might play USC in '08 or '09. Not sure if that's true but I'd love for it to be in '09. Rusty will be a senior, we'll have impressive new recruits who await next year's stadium, etc and we'll give them a hell of a game.

That's a new one on me, I consider that rumor to be wishful thinking. Our non-conference schedule is pretty much set for next season with Texas, Michigan State, Minnesota and UAB. In 2009 we already have Nebraska and UAB on the sked and Miami has been bouncing around too, but nothing about USC.

It discusses the possible punishment along with time table, if it's true that looks like it will be a huge blow.
"an infraction report from Aug. 25, 2005 showed that FIU broke NCAA rules," and as a result, FIU "is now subject to penalties under repeat violators, which may include the prohibition of some or all outside competition in the sport involved for one or two sports seasons."

Were you guys really outnumbered? It looked like a pretty even split with maybe a slight edge to FAU on TV.
Either way you guys played a great game. Oh how I would love to have Howard back at the Ville, especially this year.
