FIU North Texas among others to C-USA

This is disastrous for the program and school.

FIU will have no reason to continue playing the series with us, and now we will have no way to compete with them in recruiting. Just goes to show that facilities don't mean anything, instead wins do.

Re: FIU North Texas among others to C-USA

This sucks!.  I mean Congrats to FIU and unt, but this is horrible for our program.  The think that worries me most is my fear that after all the conference jumping this year the ncaa will somehow limit future conference movement to create some stability.  We really need to dominate the belt for the next few seasons.

Horrible news for FAU. We have to make the most out of the SBC and move forward with the existing teams to continue to develop the conference.

GO OWLS!!!

How do you explain North Texas then? 18 Wins since 2005. That's 7 seasons with an average of 2.5 wins per year and their only really respectable year was 2011 with 5 wins. Dude, wins mean nothing. Big market, great recruiting, good facilities and an aggressive plan to get in to the conference is how they got there.

The SBC football programs are getting better, take a look at Arkansas State, WKU. The SBC should contact the CUSA and talk to them about a merger. I would love to see teams such as ECU, UTEP, and Marshall come on down to Boca and play us.

Wins mean something when two team's from the same market are fighting for a bid. You said big market? Um, Dallas is a huge market. Good facilities equal a bid, ehh I don't think so. I think everyone on this board likes to pride how ours are better than FIU's, but somehow they got one. Conference's don't care if the locker room or weight room is nice, they care about the product that is being put on display.

Re: FIU North Texas among others to C-USA

I think we all need to just wait and see how it all plays out before we panic. After the four schools leave conference USA, conference USA sucks. Probably worse then the sunbelt. North Texas sucks, so they will fit in well. FIU had there two years and will now suck again without TY Hilton, so they may be a good fit too for the new conference USA. As the WAC falls apart, the sunbelt can pick off a few schools and will be fine. Not much will change… hopefully.

I just think it is a shame if FIU and North Texas jump ship. The sunbelt has been growing and has had stability. With a new conference commissioner, a few more bowl games, a few more more schools and a conference championship, there is no reason we shouldn't be way ahead of the new conference usa, wac, whatever they may be. Further, the sunbelt can remain a regional conference with established and growing rivalries if everyone just stays on board and continues to grow their programs. I mean… really FIU… you think you are going to switch to conference usa and suddenly be competing with the big 3? Give me a break.

1. We didn't fight for a bid.
2. I merely stated what kind of combo you need to move up, all of those things play a part. Unt is a no brainer to get scooped up, even though they've only averaged 2.5 wins per season these last 5 seasons.

If we would have gone even 500. or just above which would have gotten us in to one more bowl instead of the 5 and 19 we have gone the last two seasons we would have go the bid. UNT had no one to compete with Dallas market and  and C-USA wanted to stay out west three years ago we knew we were competing with FIU and we s*** THE BED  I hope Howard can get that 15 Mil he talks about in the next year that is the only way our program does not fall into the abyss.
It just bothers me so much have been saying this on this broad for a couple years now we can not screw around in this very sensitive time in college football but i was told by people on this broad wins are not everything.

Also FIU will not play us they will 100 percent have the we are too good attitude there is no reason for them to waste a ooc game vs. us.
And do not Rip the C-USA they have a TV deal with CBS sports and twice as many teamS and twice as many bowl bids who the winner of the conference gets to play a SEC team not the 5th place C-USA team. The Sun-Belt just lost a program with a new stadium and top upcoming  programs.  We also lost our best rival and something SGA has put effort into creating Bury the Burrow in Red  it is all gone.
The Sun-Belt just continues top take step forward then take steps back GSU and Texas State are nice but they are where we were 13 years ago.
