Remember this day because I will tell you now that this will be as big as Florida vs Florida State one day. I really don't think its gong to take 50 years either.
We'll hold you to it.

I believe you! You look at something like UM's legacy and can see that it doesn't take long for traditions to be born (10-20 years or so) nowadays. With Coach Schnelly, Coach Strock, and the Don Shula Trophy involved from the beginning, I don't think it will take long either. I too urge all of you to remember these days cause we'll reminisce on how friendly the rivalry USED TO BE!!! LOL!! All in good fun ;)Talon said

P.S. Just a reminder to all of you dedicated FAU fans…..
As of 12/9/2005:
- We've had the trophy all of 13 days/almost 2 weeks/almost 312 hours!
- We still can enjoy it for 352 more days until the next meeting! Just to let you know, that's 8448 hours!
- Looking forward to seeing you guys at Dolphin Stadium to defend OUR beautiful trophy!

Most of you guys are not from N Florida. One guy is, No Inside Game, I think. There is a whole week set aside for the Florida-Georgia game. It is called, "Florida Georgia week" if you are from Florida and "Georgia Florida Week" if you are from Georgia. Each side has their own schedule of events. While I was living in GA there was a golf tournament every year during the week leading up to the game. There were numerous events where I lived in GA because that is where the Dog fans stayed overnight before heading down to J-Ville Saturday morning to get a good start drinking before the game.
My whole point is I would like to see that happen with the FAU-FIU rivalry if you are a FAU fan or the FIU-FAU rivalry if you are a FIU fan. It might eventually need a neutral site like Dolphin Stadium. This would be different from homecoming. Homecoming focuses on the alumni returning. Picking a homecoming king and queen and their court.
FAU-FIU week would focus on the intense hatred between the two schools. How much FAU hates blue and gold and how much FIU hates blue and red. Stealing each others mascot costumes and everything associated with complete disrespect for the other university. I'm looking forward to it. Sounds fantastic. FAU-FIU week.
Talon, one beer for a 7 year wait. Thats worth at least 2 beers if you remember in 7 years.

1913- Teams first meat in JAX
1933- Every game played in JAX except 1994.
I also like the idea of playing ina neutral site for this game. It gives both teams that roadtrip/party type of atmosphere. I think down the road when both teams have their stadiums, I like the idea of using dolphins stadium as a neutral site, its about the same distance for both schools.
Take a closer look each yr of the branding of the FLA-GA game. Its not just the fans that rename the game FLA-GA or GA-FLA, all press and advertising for the game has to alternate yr to yr, i guess its an agreemment between the schools.

I lived in Jax for a few years. I am from N FLA, (St Augustine). Then I moved just north of where you are to St Simons Island, GA. It was a big deal there. Thousands of people would show up during the week, many in RVs and stay at St Simons and go from there to the game on Saturday. Prior to Spurrier, they would return after the game and party the rest of the night. After Spurrier, it was pretty quiet on St Simons that night.
It is estimated that the economic impact of the game for Jacksonville is huge.
