Yeah but if you crammed all their people into a section the size of ours, it was probably about the same number. Just not a lot of people and their people only cheered when they scored a TD. Otherwise… crickets.

Honestly their stadium seemed more impressive from the outside. On the inside it was a souped-up version of Lockhart. I also thought there would be more in the way of concession opportunities. Not so much. However, I liked their general campus and stadium layout. The Art Museum is particularly impressive, as is the Panther Pride stuff on the side of the dorm buildings. FAU could learn a thing or two from them.

Anyway, good game. I thought we played pretty poorly but had enough opportunities to correct our mistakes and make things happen. We edged them out, simple as that.

As a side note, I was wondering why some of our players had smudges of blue paint on their pants. According to the FIU blog, FAU players painted the midfield logo red while pretending to pray during the walk-through before the game. That meant FIU had to repaint it before the game and thus… blue paint smudges on tackles.

A building sits atop the home side containing suites and such. The press box was set up at the east end of the building by adding plywood walls and some sort of tarp thing on the field side of the cubicle. I think the roof was legit, bit that area was probably only designed to be some sport of covered porch at the edge of the suites.

The stadium looks nice inside (outside, it's not so pretty) and will be very nice when the student services building and south decks are built. It can get very loud in there.

But I do not understand how FIU forgot or failed to build a legit press box. That facility pretty much blew down during the FIU-Troy game. As bad as Lockhart's press box is (and it is pretty bad), the one at FIU takes the cake.

You didn't happen to get a shot of JVC stiff arming that DB from FIU (#20 I think) on a bootleg that he turned upfield did you?

We were driving toward the jumbotron side of the field, so it happened right by our team's sideline. Would love to see that one!

FIU stadium "looks" good if you are mostly blind. Just a new version (aluminum) of Lockhart, even retains the old HS stadium visitor seating. And as for that pressbox, WOW! What an insult to visiting journalists , what a great impression that must make!! And how did that ever get approved for occupancy, talk about safety issues!!!
