Well, I go back to what I said earlier in the thread: Wouldn't that leave us with just four home games for 2009?
Yeah probably but I think FAU would agree to four home games if that meant the chance to play FSU. Wouldn't you?
I can't speak for everyone, but if I were a recruit, I would look down on a school that had eight pure road games. I think it's a step back at a time when we should be moving toward six home games. I'd love for FAU to play FSU, but I think we're better off waiting until it fits the schedule better. And it's not like we're lacking for state exposure. We've played USF and UF.

the big thing is that we have to go to FIU while they only have to come to Dolphin Stadium…still think that contract was a HUGE mistake.
How long would we have been stuck at Dolphin had we not agreed to that?

Yeah tell me about it… although they thought it was going to be a big deal. It might be in five years but for right now it's a waste. When does that contract expire anyway? 2012, right? So even if we have the stadium on campus in 2010, we still have to travel down to Miami to take on FIU for two years…

Just because we have a contract to play FIU in Dolphin Stadium until 2012 doesnt mean we have to play there. If we know we will make $100k profit to play FIU in Dolphin Stadium (I am making up the numbers as an example), and we know we make $300k by playing in our new stadium, we could simply buy out our contract…pay what we owe Dolphin Stadium for the game, and play it in our stadium and make a little less than we would for a normal game just to have it on our campus.
I am not an attorney, but believe we can buy out any contract if it makes sense for us.

I believe the buyout would have to be written into the contract or you would be in breech of the contract. Whether there is a buyout or not I don't know but my gut says no do to the time when it was written.

An atmosphere of what? A cool scoreboard surrounded by 70,000 empty orange seats?
Anyway, I thought it was because they wouldn't let us out of the contract unless we agreed to the FIU thing. Or something like that.

Looks like FSU could do an away game in 2012 or 2013, so if we gave them a home game in 2009 and a home game in 2011(rough in-state year with UF/FSU/FIU) then maybe we get them in a broken in-to FAU Stadium down in Boca in 2012 or 2013.
Even if all that falls into place, which is a longshot, I still think they would want it in Dolphin, just from a revenue standpoint if nothing else. I mean, how is FAU going to convince FSU that a trip to Boca Raton is worthwhile from a financial standpoint? FSU can guarantee a certain number of fans – 30,000 probably – far more than the number of seats FAU will offer them in FAU Stadium.
FAU will be able to bring in bigger name out-of-state schools, but I think we're still a ways off from being able to get FSU or UF to come to Boca, just because of the size of the alumni bases and booster clubs in SoFla.
