all i know was that i sat near the guy that screamed who let the owls out……

jab, fledling, my fiance, and myself all laughed after no one replyed

i told him to stop it as we stopped it over 3 years ago, he got really really pissy and said what do people like better bro….

i replied simply, anything the baha men dont sing

he later realized the power of our voices when we started one of the many chants and replied thanks guys

You were right behind me…  'anything the baha men dont sing" that was classic…lol

haha Hotel I think I know who you are. You were in the row right in front of us. He tried to get it going once again and yelled who let the owls out! but while he was in the middle of his chant Nunzio & I both being pretty loud pretty much drowned him out.

So Wright Waters was at the celebration… How nice of him to grace us with his presence. I have no respect for that man. He wasn't in NO and he wasn't Troy for the 2 biggest games of the season for his conference. Maybe if he could get up off his a$$ and get the belt another bowl tie in then at least he'd have an excuse for not showing up

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

I need to correct you… he was in fact in New Orleans for our bowl game. He took the FAU football staff to "Commander's Palace" (very very high dollar restaurant) a couple of days before the game and even came out later in the night as Santa Clause, giving out little SunBelt/NO bowl memorabilia.

If he was not in fact at Troy, that is a shame… but I can account for him in NO most of the week, and through the game.

Welcome to the board!  I read that he was not at the Troy game because of some BCS meeting(something all conferences take part in) in New York that same weekend.  I could be wrong though.

Jpphantic no disrespect and it's just my opinion I just think he's a terrible commissioner. He may be a very nice guy, I don't know never met him but he's done nothing to better this conference. He should be working on getting more bowl tie-ins and something better then the New Orleans Bowl for the winner. The SBC wasn't as bad as most people think. Between FAU, Troy, MTSU, and ULM we all had good season and with troy getting ripped off and not being invited to a bowl Waters should be doing what he can to make sure something like this doesn't happen again. We had 3 wins this year as a conference over teams from a BCS conference. FAU over Minnesota, Troy over OK State, and ULM over Alabama.

Granted we had some schools that didn't do to well like UNT and FIU but that will soon change.

This is way off topic and I don't want to start a whole war again (like the UCF war) on this subject about this guy. If you want we can bring this over to the open forum and I'll gladly discuss this with you

Re: Football Celebration/Basketball Games IMPORTANT

I forgot one thought on the day… Where the hell were the students?  I bet that the crowd was at best 15- 25 percent students.  I wish we would have had a sports event like this when I was there.  I realize that this is a 3 day weekend but they need to get better involvement from the student body somehow.

A lot of them were working. I Know I was. But I had another student who doesn't have a job stop by and pick up stuff for me.

As someone said… because the Sun Belt is forced to play a lot of SEC-quality teams to make their budgets, they look worse than they actually are. If we played mid-tier teams like Akron and Central Michigan instead of Kentucky and Florida, for instance, we'd have a better record. FIU started off the season against Penn State. Luckily ULM beat 'Bama and Troy gave both Florida and Georgia a good game.

If we can knock off Texas/Michigan State, if Troy can do some damage/win against Ohio State/LSU (the former being more likely than the latter in that case), etc than we'll get some more respect. Also, we have to get all of our confence members (FIU, UNT) out of the Bottom Ten…

Re: Football Celebration/Basketball Games IMPORTANT

From I read, the SB is trying to put together another Bowl, which requires a lot of work, it just doesn't happen over night.  I am sure that the NCAA must approve of it first, plus the Corporate sponsors, location, etc…  planning an existing bowl takes many, many months of planning (if not a year process) - a New Bowl probably a few years.

I heard a new bowl in 2010. Can't recall where, however.
