ODU got paid 1.3 million that is nothing to sneeze at.Posted On: Sep 6th 2018, 1:50 PM #380256
They also got their arses kicked - by a transition team.
AND…
Took a hit in the head-to-head recruiting game for sure - as they are both Virginia Schools.

Good for us the, we need to kick 'em while they are down!

Wins make money. They put fans in seats, who then buy hot dogs, beers and tee shirts; our TV ratings go up; our admissions go up. That'll bring in more money than the one-point-whatever-million they paid.
I'm not against playing these teams, or FCS teams, but the conditions need to be adjusted.

Honestly I would give up a snoozer home game against Wagner for an easily winnable game + 1.3 million bucks.

Nothing to gain by playing either them or Wagner…head scratcher why it is even on the schedule…not even the opener. Makes ZERO sense.Posted On: Sep 6th 2018, 4:25 PM #380279
A win.
Everyone does dose it. You want to become bowl eligible. Also if we use those games put everything into palying 1-1 or 2-1 to get a good team here it could cost us a home game in a season or two.

But if we're choosing our future schedule, which is what we're pretending to do, do we choose an FCS team from twelve-hundred miles away, week three, after opening against Oklahoma?
It's an easy win, sure, that's why they call them tune-up games. But shouldn't we tune-up first, then head into the season? or take a break (a pseudo-bye-week) halfway through the season?
And why not a Florida team? There's like, half-a-dozen FCS schools in Florida. Playing locally suggests tickets sold, hot dogs eaten, beers drank and so on.
It doesn't matter, or at least probably doesn't. Listening to 106.3 tonight and some recent ..com post, it sounds like White and Kiffin are on the same page regarding future scheduling (including fewer TO teams), and it sounds fine.

That Wagner game was one of the worst home games I've ever experienced. Just absolutely pathetic effort. It'll be nice to get that bad taste out with a resounding win, which is what better happen at this point.
