Game vs. Texas

Re: Game vs. Texas

Game vs. Texas

If we come home 2-1, I will guarantee 17,500 as well.  We come home 0-3…maybe 10,000.  In south florida the equation runs…wins=attendance, plain and simple.

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

agree with you completely

it's way too early to start predicting what we WILL come home (3-0, 2-1, 1-2, 0-3), but i do think a winning record draws over 17,5 and a losing record may draw around 14,5…

the thing i am trying to say is, i honestly think (at least honestly hope, lol) that we are past the days of 10,000… we're at the 13-18 range now

Re: Game vs. Texas

We're less than 3 weeks removed from FAU's bowl game… I don't think its sad to still be talking about it.  We can't really say anything much about basketball anyway.

And baseball will get all the attention once UNC visits!

Re: Game vs. Texas

Anyway…. getting back to topic.

A lot will have to do with how much marketing FAU will do once it gets closer. They should be pushing the home opener hard core. "Come and watch your Florida Atlantic Owls as they defend their Sun Belt champion and play for another chance to be New Orleans Bowl Champions" or something like that. It's all about the advertising ESPECIALLY on campus. Plus people love give aways! How about some thing to commemorate our bowl win? or how about a Howard Bobble head doll, like Hutton has. I know I got mine a while back off of ebay.

I bet if we gave out free Howard Bobble Head Dolls or something other than those plain white towels or the seat cushions to either everyone or to the first however many people we'd get a good showing of fans

Re: Game vs. Texas

Usually schools recruit or ask a particular company to sponsor game day giveaways.  Or, in some cases, the company actually approaches the school with their idea.  When I was working in division 1 athletics, this happened quite a few times.

I really hope we all see a big push of advertising from the new ad group FAU has hired.

Like things, love people.

Re: Game vs. Texas

I want to believe what you said Jab. But I just can't look past the apathy. If they were giving away free parking, I don't think we would draw a significant amount more (meaning 2-3k more fans than regular). Give-a-ways really don't = attendance. We have known that for years. It might mean something for on-campus games. But for someone to make a decision (and 2000-3000 someones) to drive to Lockhart, pay for parking, pay for a ticket to get something more than an owl towel and less than free tuition is a stretch.

I'm being sarcastic about the free tuition, but do you see what I mean? Maybe I'm wrong…
