Hagins commits to play football at FAU
Vanguard senior Marcus Hagins has found the right fit to continue his football career. Hagins, the reigning Star-Banner Defensive Player of the Year, committed to Florida Atlantic during a visit to the Boca Raton school last weekend. “I met the majority of the coaching and the linebacking corps and everyone seemed committed,” said Hagins, who led the area with 148 tackles this past season. “The program is heading in the right direction.”
Vanguard coach Alex Castaneda was pleased for Hagins, who played football in middle school but didn't play again until his junior year. “He had a good time and the visit was real good for him,” Castaneda said. “He's worked hard and is happy where he is going. ”FAU is switching from a 4-3 to a 3-4 defense, which should allow Hagins to take advantage of his speed and strength.
