This is a very novel and unique way of trying to motivate the city to become involved. What did it cost stAte and the Mayors office? Almost nothing I would imagine. Email blast from the City and it gets printed in the paper. Cheap, easy, and possibly effective advertising for the game.

This game IS on ESPNU, which is National Television. I think EVERY effort should be taken to make sure we have as many butts in the seats as possible.

Why not ask the Mayor to do this and then give Free tickets to City of Boca employees? The LAST thing we want is for our stadium to look as empty as FIU's did for thier game.

This.  We have a week and a half to get the city and local population to get interested in this game.  Lets give the endzone seats, both students and fans those rally towels they did not give out for the previous game.  Have the school send out some student ambassadors to drop off sign up sheets for free tickets to the game at the local government offices.  Not the main government building but the parks and recs dept., the maintenance dept., the mechanics, and police, and fire, and lifeguards.  We're not going to sell out the game necessarily, so towards the end of next week they can start giving out the tickets that we're not selling.  The stadium will be fully staffed no matter what so we may as well use the tickets instead of sitting on them.

+1
and maybe they will spend money on food and drinks once inside the stadium.

They do that every year for the opening game of the year.  My brother is a BRPO and they had a stack of tickets in the station last year and this year.  There is also a bunch distributed at City Hall and the fire stations.  He said there must have been about 100 tickets at the station alone.

IMHO… Saturday games only. Unless they pay nicely. If they pay, I understand. FYI, we need money.

If we are on natinoal tv then Friday it is….if not Saturday.  Wagoner should never have been played on Friday.  Do we get to tell Alabama when we want to play the game or do they tell us what time to be at the stadium?  How Angelos let Wagoner tell us we had to play on Friday I will never understand.

I am getting a little frustrated at Mr. Chun who was supposed to come out with this marketing strategy he has been saying they been working on. As fans we would like to know what the plan is.

Apparently it's a secret.

I did feel like we had a good turnout for the exhibition game vs Lynn on the west (paid) stands… not sure if that's their doing or not but I'll give them credit for anyway.

However, this whole "not doing an organized red-out for the Shula Bowl" thing is absolutely unacceptable.

Re: How a town should support the local team...

I noticed the ticket sales guys walking their new season tix holders to their seats and checking on them which is how you're supposed to do it…so it seems like we added some new ticket holders this year, at least over by me.

For the red out, I'd like to see the students get it together. I'll be there in red, as will everyone I speak to about the game but this is a great opportunity to show that our student population actually cares and can mobilize and get something done.

I bought my 4 at this years select a seat and I have had no such visits. Thanks for making me feel unappreciated. Just kidding. I would never expect FAU ticket people to go over and above.

Re: How a town should support the local team...

I understand the need for weekday games especially if they are being televised.  But, as an FAU employee that lives in south Broward County I do not like them much.  I know, sour grapes, be a fan, etc.  My small point is this, after working a full day from 8am-5pm it makes no sense to drive home to Davie and then back for an 8pm kickoff and the alternative (which I did and will continue to do!) is to hang out in Boca, eat dinner, go to the game, drive home around 11:30pm…makes for a long day.  Why not a 5pm game (if not contracted to be on TV) maybe a "Salute to FAU Employees/Fans!"  I know in the section I sit in there are a lot of FAU employees.  Make it a "Get out of Work Early" day to support the Owls!?  Just saying.  Go Owls!

I was surprised and please to see the City of Boca Raton present the City Championship staff (with a little rat on to) to FAU for defeating Lynn. But it was done well after the game with no fanfare after most fans had left.
