Howard Calls a Press Conference

Yeah, Bowden got shafted out of FSU, thats for sure.  I'm glad things worked out good for HS though.  Thanks for the info and I really hope this does give our guys some added motivation.

FAU - We got Bowls!

Re: Howard Calls a Press Conference

Evan Cohen mentioned Leach, Shannon, and Davis, and Angelos said he is interested in hearing from anyone who is interested.  He also stated that pay will be an issue for guys like that.  But wouldn't announce anything until after the season so he has several months to get it right.

He said most coaching changes, you have a week or two, so we are in a very good position.

With stadium "break even" at 12K and we seat 30K, I say tie pay to attenndance figures which benefit all parties, Coach, staff and school. The pie is big enough for a big name guy on the "mend". And that does not even take into consideration all the other revenues (parking, concessions, conference split - from a better conference of course, tv games frrm the stadium, bowl game revenues, etc…) and stadium expansion by another 15K!
Do it guys, get it done and make our jump into the higher levels of college football! Think Boise State - east cost version guys!!!!!!

I think this a great idea and a possible way to afford a bigger name.

GO OWLS!

Why is Randy Shannon in the running? He went 28-22 in three seasons with the Hurricanes.

THIS!  I grew up a Canes fan and still follow them.  Shannon burnt so many bridges in recruiting S. FL it's a joke.  No adjustments, too rigid in his systems and beliefs, the guy has only been out of Miami ONCE, when he played at Dallas.  He hates the media, alumni, boosters etc.

At this critical juncture in our development, you need an engaging, charismatic person that will put butts in the seats, wins on the board and promote the program.  Shannon IS NOT THE GUY!

Leach for all his quirkiness is a great choice.  Leavitt is another great choice.  Meyer, not happening, he'll be at Penn State in a year or two.

Don't expect an announcement to be made until the end of the season as all the names that will be rumored or speculated on will sit on the sidelines to see what other jobs come open.  There will be plenty of coaches on the hot seat this season.

Not only is this a football decision, but a MAJOR business decision for the University and their future direction.

A guy with a record like Shannon's in the ACC would dominate the SBC, and that should be our goal.  Domintating our conference will give people a legitamite reason for thinking about us at expansion time.

P.S. Not a fan of Shannon's at all, but I wanted to make that point.

He was 16-16 in ACC play.  Considering some of those wins were over Duke & UVA, what makes you think he would dominate in the SBC?

Ted says that Howard is going under the knife today for a hip replacement. I hope he's back, at least in the booth for the UF game.

Van V taking control for now.

Hip replacement is pretty serious.  Rehab and recovery depends on which type of replacement is done.  Usually it's 6-9 weeks bearing no weight on the hips and after that it's very limited (most likely using a walker/crutches.  With that time frame, he will not be walking out through that tunnel for the first game w/o some sort of assistance.  He may be coaching from the press box for the entire season.

If traditional replacement, and for the NORMAL man:

Walker for up to two weeks, cane therafter…@ six weeks 80% recovered.

But, as we all know very well, HS is NOT the normal man…he's a man's man:

Uses gasoline for mouthwash…flosses with barbed wire…shaves with a machete.

Get better fast Coach!

Little bit off there.  My grandfather who is 78 just had both hips replaced and he is in tip-top shape (runs 3 miles a day and swims for an hour).  He was in the hospital for about 4 days.  After that, he was sent to rehab and that took 6 weeks.  Now he is on a cane but still not 100%.  They pretty much told him his days of running are over.
