You might see some quicker developing plays which favors experience players.

I've noticed that FAU is content to dump the ball off for a lot of short yardage, a game plan which is effective against most all defenses and can be very useful if you're trying to wear out the clock. So I wouldn't be surprised to see that a lot in '09 but I'm hoping '08 opens up a bit more because we have the playmakers to net 20+ yards on a single pass.

Dumping the ball off to the backs was very effective against Memphis. FAU had some big plays on short passes to the flat. I think that will still be a key part of the offensive gameplan.

agree...HS has ALWAYS employed that play in every offense he has ever ran.

Re: Howard....Hall of Fame Coach?

It keeps the defense honest as does the extensive use of the TE. Anytime a defense has to worry about RBs as true pass options, they have one more thing to prepare for. LBs can't just make lazy drops to their zones when the threat of RBs out of the backfield exists. It also creates nice mismatches when you have a 190lb RB going up against a 240lb LB in man coverage.

Bottom line, if ain't broke don't fix it.

He looks to be all of the 229lbs that he is listed at. He should make a BIG impact if (when) he gets on the field. It will be nice to finally have a big back who can punish defenders.

Yeah I hope so. Hate to put so much stock into one guy after what happened with Sammy Hernandez (prove us wrong in '08 Sammy!).

Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing him in uniform (#8) starting in August. Let's see some of that juke. Let's see how far you get against FAU defenses. Show us what you got.
