True, but you tend to find those guys in the big conferences.  Not a lot of beasts in the SBC.  You're just happy if you can find someone who hits half the kicks from 40+.

We just got a kicker transfer from Auburn. Hopefully he can do some good things for us.

Re: Howard has to go

I was afraid that this would happen and this is just another step this program needs to make.

Look at USF last year & what they had to go through.  They also had a difficult time dealing with all the HYPE, becoming the media darlings & getting ranked as high as #2.  And they had a tough second half to their season, because they could make the adjustments.

All the HYPE, success, national attention does mess with your head & these are young kids - young team that has never gone through any of this stuff at this level & it is part of the growing process this team & players must go through if they what to reach higher.  The next time they will be more prepared & will now have leaders that will know how to handle the HYPE, success & national attention.  This is the first time any of these kids & it does become part of the game - the mental aspect of the game makes up for a very larger portion of what happens on the field.

The question is, how long will it take for the kids to right the ship, if it takes all years, then so be it.  It will make then a better team next year.

Re: Howard has to go

Well said Bytor, I could agree more and we have to remember that we had three tough road games to start the season and add last Tuesday's game was a heart breaker and should have been a "W".

Everyone needs to remember this is a very young program and we need to look at the positives of where we are. Losses hurt especially when you know you can win them even on the road, but as the years pass this team will continue to improve. Will it be ups and downs?, show me a team in America that doesn't. Case in point look at the upsets last week. We are playing teams with a lot of history and tradition, that have the resources that enhance their programs.

We will get there one step at a time. It hurts to have a 1-4 start to a season, but a lot of my friends can't believe (many are Gators) what FAU has accomplished. So hang in there guys and gals we are all making history here good or bad, its all part of growing up.

Re: Howard has to go

I don't think FAU is much different from last year at all. The main difference? Turnovers. Bingo. That's it in a nuttshell. FAU was +18 last year, -9 now. That's a difference of 27 possessions. Turnovers = Time of possession, Time of Possession = Number of Plays. Number of Plays = Number of Points. Therefore, Turnovers = Points. It should also be noted that when you turn the ball over, you're not only wiping away a chance to score points, you're spoon feeding the opponent points as well. The team knows there's a huge difference in the turnover department and I think it's making their confidence drop and making them nervous. They HAVE to plays now that the turnovers aren't there. What used to be second nature is something they have to "think" about now. "I HAVE to make this play, don't drop the ball, come man catch this ball, I have to stop them here, come on man!" A great teacher and mentor of mine once said that to execute well, you have to turn off the voice inside your head. I think turnovers are rattling them and to compensate the "voice" inside their heads is too loud for them to focus and execute.

So, where DID the turnovers go? Last year, Sincere had 8 turnovers and Polo had around the same. This year, Sincere is gone, and Polo hasn't been making plays. Just my assesment. But you can still beat Troy, we're having the same problems in the turnover department…

Re: Howard has to go

Would love to hang out with you guys, but I'll be with the Pep Band, so we'll enter the game as a group at around 5 or so and hang out inside the stadium. Thanks for the offer, if I were going solo, I'd definately stop by.

Good points.

Thing about turnovers too, especially interceptions… when teams are in a slump and get a turnover like that, the offense usually fires off and finds its way to the endzone.
