The Canes have to feel pretty good right now. What they get will be a vacation compared to what PSU got.

But if PSU didn't get the Death Penalty, I don't see how the Canes can - and I certainly thought they might.

Actually, I think this is bad for the Canes…PSU took a hit and it was one guy and a few covering it up….Miami had dozens of people taking money..plus, Canes wronddoings had more to do with football than PSU, but it was more heinous.. .I think the NCAA will take its wrath out on UM too
I think they may too! They are now in a position of trying to get control of football back away from the Coaches and AD's. And the only way they can basically it to make examples of the serious offenders. UM and NC (and their fans - the NCAA IS watching the attitudes of the fan bases as well) had better watch out!
The NCAA did say today that they are going to moinitor Penn St. and reserve the right to INCREASE the penalties if need be. The Penn St. fan base up there is right now going ballistic online with REAL BAD NASTY OBSCENE comments, even death threats. {SU admins netter ghet control of it before the NCAA sees that football still runs the school. If the culture up there IS so out of wack with decent society the NCAA may just say F…it and shut football down at the NCAA level, for good!

Um will not get killed they have been very cooperative and already sat out a bowl and suspended players they might lose one more bowl and a couple of scholarships.
I disagree, sitting out of of poulan weedeater bowl really doesn't count for much. Do I think we are talking massive hits here, no but I do believe we are talking more than a slap on the wrist.

One of UM's big problems is that the athletic dept was already under probation( baseball related) so this might make penalties mandatory

Sat out a bowl game? Some big programs in the past have turned down bowl games at 6-6 because they simply didn't want to go due to it being an expense. They didn't sacrafice a thing there.
If the NCAA really wants to start changing the culture of college sports, Miami would be a good place to start as they have had trouble with "institutional control" for the last 3 decades and are really the face of the issues that everybody is talking about in college sports.
