I think Andrew and Dieter have put a dent in Chuck's cash flow which may explain some of the hostility.

There is no way he makes money off of that. Absolutely no way.

What do you mean? Where do you think the money goes?

What I am saying is there is no way he can live off the money he makes off of that site.

Oh, no clue if he lives off of it or not but I'm sure he would need money for the upkeep and for the travel that he does.  My guess is the site is an investment for when FAU does actually get more popular it will get more subscribers and then be sold.

I like Chuck.  I like Rick.  I like Dieter.  This was a personal thing between 2 of those.  Very disappointing to me that it became a thread on here.

I guess this is a microcosm of our society.  We seem to want to have to make everything a team sport and pick a side, like politics.

Hopefully common sense will prevail one day, but I doubt it.

Why we insist on taking a very small fan base and dividing it is beyond me (John Lennon's–Imagine–is playing in my head lol).

Re: Hypocrisy at its finest?

As someone mentioned, it used to be a much better situation for them: Ted ignored recruiting, Rivals did almost nothing, there was no 247 sports, no Andrew, no Dieter, and we didn't really do much either. They had cornered the market.

Furthermore, I read that Schnelly and Co. used to let press on the team plane to cover away games. So travel and game ticket for free, maybe even free food? After all, what's 2-3 more guys when you're already feeding over a hundred?

Now that's all changed. There are multiple lines coming in now with recruiting news and it's got to be physically exhausting to always be first. Pelini's crew doesn't let them ride for free either. Probably explains why the game recap videos - IMO, the best part about the site especially since most of our games aren't televised - have disappeared. Maybe it's because they no longer travel with the team or maybe its just because the effort doesn't match the dollars.

In any case, they're trying to keep their boat afloat by convincing everyone that they're the "go to" site. I get that. But for a fan, all sites are "go to" sites. Constantly reminding everyone that you're first probably drives away more business than it attracts. I know it has that effect on me, anyway. If you're first, or if you have an exclusive, then I know it. If I don't know it, then it probably doesn't matter to me.

The other site is always territorial about any FAU coverage.  If they scoop a story I can understand them wanting proper credit.  In this case, if they are accusing Dieter of plagiarism, they should come out and say it.

I still have a problem with this URL they own:  fauowlnest.com

I think stealing a web address is dirty pool.

The owner of this site should file a UDRP complaint. Might have to hire a lawyer, or maybe one who handles internet law and this type of thing and is a regular here could help do it pro bono, but IMHO UDRP would be the way to go.

There are about 8 FAU centric businesses on the planet.  Let's all start suing each other to gain control of the FAU empire  ;D

I literally own about 40 domain names.  I don't do it to steal other business from other businesses…I do it to be found in searches by people that do not know I exist.  Honestly, if someone wants to buy a derivative of my domain name to gain control of the empire, then good for them and shame on me for not buying it first  :D  Just my opinion.  I am sure many others disagree…and that's what makes the world go 'round…

But Mark is right. We are not in the position to beef with the other guys when we should be forming a community.

It is not really a lawsuit, so you would not be suing the world. It is more like arbitration. You submit a complaint and it is ruled on. There are no depositions, no trial, etc. It is more paperwork than anything else. I think this is a clear case but it would require someone familiar with UDRP to get everything right to prevail.
