I think it's too ealy to talk about beating Texas, yet I am a firm believer in any given Saturday, but also a realist when it comes to these type of games.  Yes we have made great leaps in a short span, but we need to be serious about the fact that what hurts us playing these type of game is our depth (talent level of the second & third stringer compared to the first teamers) and the level is starting to level off, but not quite there yet - we can keep up for a half & then that is when gets out of hand.  I do think that next year will provide a much better chance for us to play far better in our OCC games then in the past years.

We are not that far off as some might think, but getting over that hump will be no easy  task, these teams can no longer take FAU lightly, they are learning that we will play a very physical game.

Texas 35 UCF 32.

And Kyle Israel can not hold Rusty Smith's jock strap. And no can tell me that UCF's defense is any better than FAU. Ask South Florida who was rolling up 64 points on UCF even when the scrubs were playing.

I think our Offense will be good enough to hang with anyone next year, including Texas and Michigan State. However, it's our defense that worries me. Unless we get big bodies on the D-Line we are going to get pushed around in the trenches.

FAU has a legitimate shot at beating Michigan State and Minnesota. FAU might even be favored against Minnesota. FAU should be a big favorite against UAB. Texas will be a two to three touchdown favorite against FAU, but FAU has a chance at making it close just like UCF did. However, we have to remember that UCF was playing at home in a brand new stadium with 45,000 UCF fans who were going out of their minds. FAU will face Texas in Austin with 70,000 Longhorns going absolutely nuts. It will be a very difficult game with the FAU defense being the achilles heal.

Who would have ever thought we would end this season as SBC Co-champs, N.O. Bowl champs and ranked ahead of Miami, Pitt, Notre Dame  - hell yea we can beat Texas ! What's wrong with shooting for an undefeated season - we are the FAU OWLS !!!

I am sure our boys will be starting the countdown to Texas on January 6th when they return to school and hope there will be a sign hanging at The Ox to remind them of the goal.

Got to work extra hard in the off season and Spring and keep everyone healthy and eligible for Sept. 2008 !

Unfortunately I think that poll is screwed up. I think we are a lot better then #58. They have Troy at #50. Once again, no respect, but I personally love not getting our props. It only makes us work harder.

I just looked at the sportsline poll, could you please explain to me how Troy can be ranked at # 50, 8 spots ahead of us.

- manhandling oklahoma state… and we got crushed by oklahoma state
- blowing through their conference games MUCH easier than we did
- playing georgia EXTREMELY close
