I can not take this anymore

We are all frustrated - it's sad that the year of the stadium is turning into a disaster. I'm not going to come in here anymore and say "I told you so"…blah blah blah. But look the writing was on the wall even a few years back with the obvious lack of recruiting talent, bad coaching etc etc. Everybody is upset - people are venting. At the end of the day we all care about our Alma mater and this football program. Venting is just part of being a "fan". I'm just in the camp that right now - while I won't sit here and kick HS while he's down - he is going to get a lot of the blame on this from me for what is going on right now.

Yes we have our stadium, yes we know a new staff is coming in next year. And I do agree that a Sunbelt team can have a quick turnaround, especially in talent rich SoFla. But nobody really knows just what the ramifications of this season can have on this program. So while we are all trying to be optimistic - the unknown is scary, because there is no guaranty that this thing can be turned around quickly (even though we know it is possible).

Lots of programs have had bad seasons.  The ramifications of this season is no different then countless other programs that have gone through this.  You hire the best coach possible and re-build.  It's really not that scary of a proposition.  Are you are saying that it's going to be harder to turn this program around here then it was in Jonesboro, Arkansas, Layfayette, LA, or Bowling Green, KY?  Nothing is guaranteed, but with a new stadium and new coaching staff, I like our chances.

Howard did not build this stadium. Everyone on this board needs to stop saying that. FAU and the State built the stadium, not some coach who can't even wear the right color blazer to the game.

If you can definitively say this 0-8 record isn't Howards fault, than take it with the salt it's coming with.

At this point, does anyone want Howard to step down or expect him to do so (except for FAU Delt)?  It is not going to happen! Most of us would not want to see it happen anyway.  I think he is hurting over this more than anyone. This is a very competitive man who has coached for the better part of 40 years and has reached the end of the line. Let's allow him to retire with dignity and hopefully this team can eke out a couple of wins before the end of the season and send him off on a positive note.

Re: I can not take this anymore

The man built the Team from absolutely nothing. There is no argument there. Accordingly, to assert that we would have this stadium without a Team is absurd.

He's the default builder of the program, and anything that comes after his foundational work, no matter how you portray it.

On a side note:

If the Stadium financing would have worked out the way it was planned, last year would have likely been his last; and we would not be having these discussions.

But, it did not, so…….

Tell him to resign now! Get out! Move on! Hang it up!

We demand wins now!

Screw what you did all of the other years, they don't mean a damn thing!

You suck, are old, wear the wrong color blazer (matter of opinion - see Bear Bryant for counter argument) have driven the team (yours solely) into the ground, and have outstayed your welcome.

We won't stand behind you, will stab you in the back as you leave, make fun of your health and age, and call you names!

The title of this thread is very appropriate:

"I can not take this anymore."

Can't, and will never engage in this pap and drivel of a discussion again.

It's tired, old, and not going to change a damn thing.

I had a long conversation with Craig today in the AD box, Jim Leavitt texted him a few minutes earlier from DC as the 49'ers are playing the 'skins tomorrow.   We shall see…..

I wonder how many coaches he's getting texts from… the plot thickens.

I like our chances also. I personally think we will have a fairly quick turn around - maybe 2 - 3 years. But the problem isn't even just this season. This team has been underperforming since the end of the 2007 season. The last few seasons, coupled with this season are hurting us big time. Imagine where we could have been right now with even a decent product on the field and a new stadium. The frustration lies in the fact that there should have been no reason to have had the downward spiral we've experienced for the last 3+ seasons to open the stadium like this. This is where I put blame on the staff. We simply can't have the stadium be 80% empty with little fanfare in the next few years to come. AND WE CANNOT BE LEFT BEHIND OTHER PROGRAMS - ESPECIALLY WITH CONFERENCE RE-ALIGNMENT ETC. Not saying we are - but these past few seasons are not helping.  So I am optimistic that this thing can turn around, and feel it will. But nobody can say for sure what is going to happen - and my point is it shouldn't have ever got to this point. But with that said, let's all come together and support this program as they go into their transition phase with a new coach and staff!

I know it will not change a thing but this is just a part of losing I have the right to make this post everydaY. When your losing you can not complain about getting criticized no matter how repetitive it is. I am a fan i have every right To complain no matter how old it gets.
Howard at this point is just making a joke of himself.

Re: I can not take this anymore

Owlcountry40 I feel your pain.  I am a proud Alumni and supporter of this team.  I have been following the Owls since 2003, but this season is a total disaster.  I definitely have hopes for the future.  Look at the WKU and ULL turning things around.  New coaching and better recruiting will hopefully motivate these players and make them overachievers. Mike Leach, Leavitt, Butch, Shannon, or whomever can't get here fast enough.  Only 4 more to go, can't wait till it's over and hit the reset button.  Go Owls!

Re: I can not take this anymore

The good news in the Coaching ranks; Neuhiesal may have saved his job at UCLA! Boards at Arizona seem to think Leach would be a great fit BUT he has already decided to take the FAU position so they are not pushing hard for him there!

Potential bad news; Ole Miss is gonna be an open job real soon - what qualified Coach would not want a SEC job (if they offer - SEC controlled by tv dollars A LOT!).
