If the Sun Belt got a new football team

I think La Tech would be a very nice addition. But I don't see it happening.

The most probable 1-AA teams include Western Kentucky, Southern Illinois, and Georgia Southern. However, it is a huge move to go from 1-AA to 1-A. Look at all of the problems that FAMU had when they considered the move. By the way, if they had made it successfully, I think they would have been a nice addition after a few years.

There is talk about Missouri State making the move to 1-A. That could be an option, although not a very good one in my opinion. GO OWLS!!!

FAMU would have been great before all the problems.

I'm still hoping that FAMU could be the 5th home game ( I know they have already filled thier schedule)) but they would prbably bring 5K to 7K fans and a great band. Sounds like a fun Saturday afternoon!!

GO OWLS!

Just going to add to the subject, there has been alot of talk about Texas State. 30,000 students, right next to Austin, and be a perfect rivalry with UNT. I say if we add someone it would be Texas State Bobcats.

If added: not to well in Basketball, but Baseball would jump specially with FAU, Troy, FIU, UL, MTSU, USA, and if added TSU. That is one powerful Baseball Conference. Football would have to be improved, but they are in Texas they should be able to do that.

There has been much talk about them moving up to Division I-A.

I have to agree with the no expansion argument. The Sun Belt needs desperately to shake off it's I-AA step up image if it wants to be taken seriously, adding more I-AA teams is hardly what it needs right now.

I don't think that the conference should expand until they improve as a whole. However, I think they might still look for expansion. As for WKU, they haven't been very strong the past few years. They sort of fell off. I do like the Texas State idea. That would be a ready made rivalry against North Texas. Ultimately, I think the conference should wait 2-3 years and let the existing teams improve. As it is, FAU and FIU are newbies. Once they gain their footing, then the timing will be right to possibly add another team or two. GO OWLS!!!
