I am not defending these kids but I think most FAU fans are too harsh on the kids. Leroy along with the other kids have a very big hand on where the program is. I also remember some of you posting to bench Rusty when the season was going sour. This program is very new and we as fans should support all the players when they are at their best and at their worse. Go Owls
Well said…
The guys who don't go will obviously be VERY disappointed with themselves as it is sitting home watching rather than being there…
So, they dont need it from us as well?

The question should be, what are the Academic Advisors doing to allow this many players to be ineligible. Ms. Brown and her team are paid to work with the athletes. What is going on?
First, it is not the Athletic Academic Counselor's fault. They do what they can.
Just so everyone knows, these clowns only have to pass 2 classes (6 credits) to be bowl eligible. Their GPA does not even figure into it yet. No one should need an adviser for that.
With all do respect, they are not "clowns." And while the minimum eligibility may seem easy, we don't know what challenges these young men have off the playing field.

Your right, "clowns" sounds harsh and that was only directed at the ones screwing up. I get frustrated by the way they let their teammates and fans down. But trust me, these guys are more than capable of at least passing their classes. It almost always involves a huge lack of effort.

Your right "clowns" is a harsh but your also correct in the fact that it appears that most of the time it is just lack of trying but there are times what it is out of the students/athletes capability so I don't think calling them names on their fan board helps too much but I understand your frustration with some of these guys.

Re: Ineligible Players
Hard lesson to be learned and sometimes they have to learn them the hard way.
For some of kids it takes more effort to remain focus on certain things and it would be more beneficial to use this situation and help them understand how to avoid the same type of situation in the future instead of telling them over and over what they already know. The more you tell these kid how they screwed up the more likely they are to repeat the same mistakes.
This is a place of higher learning and we should take every chance we have to continue to teach these kids when they do mess up and provide the word of encouragement necessary to help them past the current situation.
Sure, it put the team in a tough situation and hopefully we do not lose any scholly's at the end of the year because of this.
No matter what, it happens every year (UM, UO, and others), these things do happen.
The way I see it you have to handle it as if a certain player got injured - another kid now has the chance to step-in and show us that he (they) is ready to contribute. Or you can sulk how their absent might effect the team.
The team will be prepared come Friday night regardless.
Go Owls!!
