Interesting Statistscs...

Through this weekend's games.

Troy:

Scoring 40.29 PG, allowing 22.14 PG, difference of +18.14 PG.

MTSU:
Scoring 36.14 PG, allowing 21.14 PG, difference of +15 PG.

ULM:
Scoring 26.14 PG, allowing 22.43 PG, difference of +3.71 PG.

FAU:
Scoring 32.67 PG, allowing 31.33 PG, difference of +1.33 PG.

UL:
Scoring 24.71 PG, allowing 28 PG, difference of -3.29 PG.

FIU:
Scoring 27.29 PG, allowing 32.86 PG, difference of -5.57 PG.

ASU:
Scoring 19 PG, allowing 25 PG, difference of -6 PG.

NT:
Scoring 31.86 PG, allowing 40.86 PG, difference of -9 PG.

WKU:
Scoring 25.5 PG, allowing 43 PG, difference of -17.5 PG

Amaizing, we have ACTUALLY averaged more points then our opponents and still have a losing record.

Losing by 2 to WYO and ULM, and by 7 to MTSU just KILLED us this year.

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.

Sure if you get technical.  However, that is way to small of a gap to mean anything significant.  It'd be like getting a 6/10 on a quiz, sure you passed but it's still below average.

Think about this.

If we had made at least one more field goal against WYO or ULM, we'd be at 4-6 right now and could win out to go for a bowl game.

Two measly field goals kept us from threepeating.

HAHAHA. Dream on!!  Two FGs did not cause us to miss a Bowl, sorry.  NO defense caused our problems.

No defense is certainly our biggest issue.

BUT

If we had made one more field goal (when we were driving in the final 2 minutes) and everything else had remained the same in each game, we would have won against ULM (28-27 FAU) and Wyoming (31-30 FAU). That would put us at 5-5 instead of 3-7. Even if we had won only one game of the next two, we would be 6-6. Had we won both, which we hopefully will, we'd finish 7-5 and be bowl eligible.

Not that a bowl would have to take us but it would have been possible.

The thing is… the way we're playing now, I can't think of a single bowl eligible team we would have been able to beat anyway. So we're really saving ourselves the embarrassment and preserving coach's perfect bowl record. Let them go when they've really earned it.
