Owlcoholic, being a STA alum, I love your idea of bringing coach smith in. I almost know for a fact he'd be a success at the college level. Great all around coach but in pretty sure coach smith is happy being retired now. Hes changed many peoples' lives on and off the field.

That being said, I'm excited to see what Pelini will do for FAU. It's a PELINI for crying out loud, that's a football family right there just like the Stoops brothers! Here's hoping he brings some of them cornfed road graders from the Midwest. And being in south FL, it can't be too hard to recruit some studs here and there and find sOme diamonds in the rough while we're at it, can it? We're an up and coming program. We have beautiful innovation village going up. I just feel like the program is on the rise. Miami is goIng downhill. FAU and FIU are going uphill. We finally have an on campus stadium. FAU is making all the right moves right now.

If his name has anything to do with why angelos is hiring him then Craig should go ahead and make the checks out to BO pelini.

Guy hasn't really done anything. Don't know bout you folks, when I hire employees I base my decisions on proven work and track records.

Pelini may be a good coach but realistically he hasn't even proven himself as a decent coordinator. Sure he comes from a big time program but he wouldn't even be a positions coach at Nebraska if it weren't for his brother.

I guess it's official. Palm Beach Post said a press conference is set for Monday to announce Pelini as the new HC.

And the Post has been so good at covering FAU? ;-) The newspaper that didn't even send a photographer to the last home game?

I'd like to hear some Nebraska fans opinions on him.  I dont think anybody on this board is knowlegeable enough about Carl Palini to give a just opinion.  Not that it has stopped us before  ;D

Just goggle a little and you can find both sides of the coin.  Some are happy and think Bo handled the defense and as he slowly gave him more control and the defense numbers got worse.  Others seem to think he was a great disciplinarian and strong presence on the sidelines and the defense was just going through a normal up and down patten.

Nebraska had a bunch of defensive players drafted over the past 2 years, so I wouldn't put their decline on Pelini. It's not like he forgot how to coach.

It's Nebraska, if you don't have them coming through there consistently, then there a problem.

But you have to constantly reload.

Which, points us back to recruiting…

Suh graduated and Crick was injured and missed the last half of the year. Injuries will hurt ANY program!

"Strong presence on the side lines"?  Were your referring to him assulting a cameraman on the sidelines?  Yeah, that's what I want to see in a new head coach for FAU!  I am sure Pres. MJ would be ecstatic!
