Is "Who let the Owls out?" finally dead?

Yeah…I saw guys selling T shirts with the saying on it. There was a small contingent in club level trying to get it going but they seem to give up when the got this ( ::) )by the end of the half.

I just don't want this to carry over when we are a real contender.

Well then someone better come up with a different cheer to replace it. Otherwise, that cheer is here to stay. Where are all the marketing majors from the FAU student body. ;)

I'm glad to say I didn't hear it once during the Ok State game. I gave the guy some crap who was selling the t-shirts in the parking lot. I should have bought them all and burned them. We do need to come up with a new chant.

Aw, heck. Here I go again.

I'm an old guy. Age 57, FAU Class of 1969. This means I was born a little closer to the time our forefathers enacted the Constitution than some. I cherish freedom of speech and, by extension, freedom of cheers and , as well as freedom of other (and more important)utterances.

I also cherish everyone's freedom to criticize anyone else – including me. You'll not be the first, or the last.

But I restate: Please invite everyone to come to the games; we need the support. I don't care what they cheer, whether they cheer, whether they belch 'America the Beautiful' (ever heard that very young and very strange guy?). He sent me back to the beer stand to try to figure out how in the world he accomplished that – and why.

Just show up at the games. Please. Whatever your age, whatever you say, whatever you don't say. We need the fannies in the seats. You have a cheer? Let 'er rip. (Me? I tend to watch the game.)

Meanwhile, considering Minnesota's performance today, I fear we have a pretty steep hill next week. Cheer away. Or bite your tongue. Who in the world cares?

I was as disappointed as anyone when I walked up those steps to my section on Thursday night and saw nothing but empty orange seats. We need fans badly….I really think a win against either Minnesota (highly unlikely) or Louisville (yes, I'm nuts) would bring some fans in. I heard Schnelly talking on the radio the other night about the situation in Louisville when he was there…they got one massive victory and the fans started flooding to the games.

But in closing….if anyone starts 'that' chant around me they will certainly get grief for it. It's bad enough that it's based on one of the worst songs of all time, but I can understand the concept of 'letting the dogs out' because that actually corresponds to something in real life. Who has ever heard of someone letting the owls out? out of where? the bird sanctuary? Ooh I'm scared!

We need our crack marketing department to come up with a new chant for us all to get together and yell at games…oh wait….we don't have a crack marketing dept.

I was also disaapointed how the fans got to their seats late (after kick-off) and so many left early (even at the Dolphin game yesterday with a win) - the team would appreciate the fans support after a hard fought battle on the field.

I can't blame anyone who left the Fins game yesterday early. I was there and left with about 5 minutes left in the game since it was already decided. It was brutally hot in the stadium, 90s with no wind at all. The Owls game was a different story, it rained a little, but was pretty comfortable. Unfortunetly the game wasnt nearly entertaining as the Dolphins.
