What do you think of twitter in general?
We have yet to do anything with it thus far…still looking at it and how it could work, or not work, if not maintained correctly…
Twitter can be a fun and engaging media tool if used properly.
1st) Twitter offers a "personal touch" on news updates: Celebs, coaches, athletes and even friends and family. Therefore, FAU should have a name and face to associate its tweets with. Coaches are a good way to go, but they are often too busy to keep up with it. I would suggest there be one twitter account with the AD or even better our mascot Owlsley or "Schnelly" or whatever he is called these days.
2nd) You can upload photos with your tweets. Neither FAU twitter account does this. Example on how this is effective. If Cortez Gent catches a touchdown and it gets mention on twitter during a game, Great. But if you have the photo of it to post as well. It's that much more exciting to checkout. I would follow FAU twitter during games if they had real-time photos coming in, especially for non televised games. That is why Ted's blog is popular, he provides photos in addition to up to the minute breaking news.
3rd) Make the tweets worth reading. "The defense is still making a game of it,' said Schnellenberger" is not that interesting. In fact, its lame. If it read: "Coach Payne is firing up the D on the sideline, hoping for a game-changing play" and incorporated a photo of Payne yelling at the D on the sidelines. MUCH more entertaining.
I have a few more ideas, but I don't know if there are NCAA or University regulations with regard to twitter.

Roster
- Jacksonville, Fla.
"The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed defensive tackle Jervonte Jackson and waived defensive end Jeremy Mincey.
Jackson, a 6-foot-5, 300-pounder from Florida Atlantic, signed with Philadelphia as an undrafted rookie in May. He was waived earlier this month.
His move to Jacksonville on Wednesday came one day after the team waived defensive tackle Jonathan Lewis.
Mincey played in nine games the last three seasons. He had 18 tackles and two sacks."

Just curious, and maybe this would be a good pole question; but is it better to call us Florida Atlantic or FAU???

On his roster bio page, it lists his College as "FAU" not Florida Atlantic.

Personally, I prefer Florida Atlantic. Jacksonville may have listed it as "FAU" because they probably assumed a lot of their fans are familiar with the acronym.
