JUCO Commit

Chris Chappell, huge man (6'9" 320 lbs.), powerful - I don't for the life of me, understand how he was not starting with all the O line problems the past two years. Now don't get me wrong, I have not seen him play, but he must be either real slow or too dumb to learn the O or something to not be playing. That or the past O line Coach did'nt know ****! We must have liked 6'2" 265 lb. lineman to try running up the middle in FBS football huh?

Haha!! Well said! I knew he wasn't out there. When the kid is 6'9" it's hard to miss him. If he sees the field we'll have 2 linemen of at least 6'5"

Re: JUCO Commit

I like the idea of adding some JUCO talent.  I hope the base philosophy is to building the program with high school talent.  The JUCO player can fill some gaps.  We need to upgrade the talent level.  The JUCO players should also add some competition, which is always good.

Re: JUCO Commit

More importantly, over 300 lbs. We can't compete offensively with such an undersized O-line, epescially  in the OOC games vs. BigSix teams. Next year, UGA AND Alabama. But "heck" we could not score very well even in Belt games (shut out twice AT HOME - SAD!).

Better days are here guys - GO OWLS!

I agree.  Fill the gaps now, bring in freshman to build depth and play on the scout team or ST's and when the depth is there, add select JUCO's as needed and as you see fit.

Re: JUCO Commit

especially with incoming players the staff could redshirt. give them a season to learn the system, get the timing and everything down pat. Winning programs are built like that.

I had the same question as you. I thought he was second string.

"2010 Saw action in eight games…primarily on special teams."

because there's always a need for 6'9" 320lb OL on special teams

Whatever happened to that one OL we signed a few years back was supposedly 6'8" he even on the team?

Chris has knee problems from what i heard on the streets - caused limited playing.

Hmmm, maybe the strategy was that at 6'9 , he'd be able to block some extra points and field goals. ;D
