Re: Lack of offense hurts us again.
That prevent defense blows and the CBs are just horrible. (Troy hasn't been throwing long, but look for it next Tuesday.)
Getting away from the fast-pace offense in the fourth just threw what little momentum the offense had out the window.
Rusty was forcing dangerous throws all game (and making many of them). I thought "Whew!" a few times, especially when he was slinging out of his own end zone. He was throwing off his back foot most of the time.
The offensive line would look great, blowing MTSU off the ball, but then couldn't pass block.
Edgecomb had a great game.
The fumbles (especially that ball that flew 15 yards!) were just not acceptable. Four turnovers!
But the receivers dropped and tipped so many balls. And the timing on that option route over the deep middle was off again. FAU was lucky one of those throws was not picked off when the receiver broke the wrong way (again).
That little screen across the middle was very effective.
But FAU just couldn't put it away, despite winning the stats and possession time. The owls just didn't seem to have the heart and lost to a team they should have blown away.
The result is sickening and embarrassing. FAU is better than this.
I hope the students and real fans turn out next Tuesday despite this debacle and make the Troy game another SunBelt classic. Who knows, the way things are going, the 'Belt could have a winner with two conference losses this year.

This is the second time (that I know of) that a Schnellenberger team got beat on a "hail Mary" with no time left on the clock. The first time was against Boston College and the QB was Doug Flutie.
Looks like FAU was trying to work with mostly a running game which would have worked except for the fumbles and interception. The 4 turnovers cost the game. FAU should have scored at least 21 points, maybe 28.
This is virtually the same team as last year. Everyone is a year older and a year more experienced. Something ain't right. I sure as he!! don't know what it is. Only thing to do is ask Howard on his blog.

Bench those starting with Rusty and Nord. The "D" has stepped up, the "O" is getting worse. This game was heartbreaking.

We can't blame Rusty in the equation–he has been hitting his receivers in their hands all year long!!
Most of his interceptions are coming from his receivers not looking the ball in–they are to worried about getting HIT and CELEBRATING over being overrated!! Just my thoughts on this sobering morning! WE HAVE A HUGE TARGET ON OUR BACKS IN THE SBC–this is not the only SBC game we will lose!
GO owls!

how the hell do you let a guy catch a hail mary pass in the endzone with no time left in the game? don't you just absolutely head hunt the receivers and take the penalty? no time left on the clock??
How do you do it? I'll tell you how. You rush six, that's how.
I mean, seriously folks, has anyone EVER, at any level of football, Pop Warner to Super Bowl, ever seen or heard of rushing six on a Hail Mary? Unf'ingbelievable.
