here's the 3rd one!
If you do the math–we are not looking so great!! There are 34 Bowls, which means a possible 68 teams to choose from!! With 72 eligible teams (as of right now) it is going to be tight!! We have a slim chance of making it!! What is everyone else thinking today?????

Well, I guess it depends on the bowl bids per conference. There are 72 possible teams, but the sunbelt has 4 possible candidates. That means if we rule out Arkansas State, we end up with 71 teams. Consequently, that works the same way for the other conferences. Take a look at the ACC, they have a bunch of eligible teams.
I don't know man!!!

Slim to none, and Slim is heading for the door. The biggest thing we have going for us is the large TV market, but that doesn't mean 3 million people are going to tune in to FAU football. Hopefully the sponsors look at that, but what kind of a message does that send to the Lafayettes of the world? With 72 teams, nearly all of them with tie-ins, which four at-large teams would you leave out?

Re: Latest Bowl Predictions (as of TODAY)
Rutgers is bowl eligible and plays in a difference conference, but if you look at their season story…. they started the season 1 - 5 (like FAU) and they had loses to good football teams and one "fluke" loss (sound familiar? fluke = MTSU; good teams = Texas, MSU, Minny), then finished the season on a six game winning streak.
We finished the season 5 - 1.
And if it is true that Norther Illinois isn't going to travel for a bowl game (financial restrictions), that leaves only 70 bowl eligible teams for 68 spots. Which two are going to be left out???? Hopefully not us - especially if a story line can be created from whomever we get matched up against.

I'm an optimist about this. I think FAU has a good shot of getting in to a bowl game.

My understanding is that even though eligible at 6-6, NIU would not get an invite. They went 10-2 and 9-3 in back to back seasons and did not go bowling.

OUCH. That's gotta be a tough sales pitch to recruits… come to cold Northern Illinois and, despite your best efforts, never play in a bowl game.
