Let's look at the remainder of the year! A bowl may not be in our future?

Let's look at the remainder of the year! A bowl may not be in our future?

Remainder of schedule (based on how we look thus far) 5 & 7:

N. Texas                (W)
@ ULL                   (W)
Middle Tenn.           (L)
@ UAB                   (W)
Ark. State              (L)
@ Troy                   (L)
Vs. W. Kentucky      (W)
@ FIU                    (W)

Let's be honest, we really needed to win the Wyoming game!  Now our backs are up against the wall & our season looks cloudy at best!  To have a chance at saving our season, we must win the next 3 games and then maybe I will become positive!

GO OWLS!

I'm not sure this team can beat FIU neither. We'll just have to wait and see

Re: Let's look at the remainder of the year! A bowl may not be in our future?

I agree, this was a "need to win game".  The last two weeks have been tough losses for us.  I always say that I would rather get creamed by a team  than lose by 2 pts.  When we have games like these two you start to get angry and frustrated becasue you know that the small deficit could easily be fixed by one more completion, or one less penalty.  Atleast when you get creamed (ex. Nebraska, Texas) you know you were just flat outclassed.

As far as future bowls go, at this time, I don't see us really "earning" one, but last year, we kinda lucked into one, so who knows.  Either way, I know it's tough, but we gotta stand behind our team.  We have a small stadium and there's no room for bandwagoners. (not trying to call anyone out).  COME ON GO OWLS!

Don't automatically assume we can beat FIU and UAB.

FIU is having a bad season so far as well but they're offense has been performing better than ours and UAB is a good team. We BARELY beat them last year and we won because our offense bailed out our D by putting up a lot of points. So far our offense has failed to put up a lot of points. The same can be said about FIU. That was a shootout, our offense came to our rescue again and we barely escaped with a victory. Don't count on that again this season

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Expect a solid turnaround for FAU in the upcoming weeks, all you Debby Downers (whamp whamp)

Week 6: FAU has a bye week – time to rest and re-tool before N. Texas.
Week 7: FAU has never lost to N. Texas (5-0) since the Owls inception…FAU moves to 1-1 in the SBC.
Week 8: FAU faces a diminishing Rajan Cajan offense, and has never lost to both ULM and ULL in the same year, so Owls go 2-1 in the SBC.
Week 8: Coming off back-to-back road wins, the Owls return to LockFart Stadium to edge MTSU and win our HC game! 3-1
Week 9: UAB is horrible, 0-1 against FAU, and has lost all its '09 OOC games thus far. FAU moves to 4-4 (3-1).
Week 10: Ark. State has never beaten FAU at Larkfart stadium, and will never beat us in FL. 5-4 (4-1).
Week 11: FAU loses @ Troy. 5-5 (4-2).
Week 12: FAU destroys W. Kentucky. 6-5 (5-2).
Week 13: FAU remains the Shula Bowl winners, and finishing 7-5 (6-2).

Final SBC standings:
Troy: 7-1
ULM: 6-2
FAU: 6-2
MTSU: 4-4
Ark State: 4-4
FIU: 3-5
ULL: 2-6
N. Texas: 1-7
W. Kentucky 0-8

FAU doesn't claim the SBC title, but gets invited to the St. Petersburg Bowl.

UAB is not a good team, Southern Miss gave that game away.

How does FAU finish 6-2 in the conference and 7-5 overall?? Don't you mean 6-6 since we already have 4 losses??  ;)

7-5 is with all wins except for Troy, which puts us at 6-2 in the Belt.

And Fledge…no way in Hell we go to a bowl over Monroe? Really?? We went ahead of Lafayette and Arkansas State last year.  If the St. Pete bowl is open for the Sun Belt they would definitely take us over Monroe.
