Lets Plan Now.

I don't know what alumni is planning. But staying and playing (bar hoping) in San Antonio while the game is in Austin is like Miami and Boca - an hour drive. It then will get hairy with buses, etc.

Who knows! Anyone coming out on their own is welcome to come to San Antonio and enjoy one of the fastest growing cities in the nation.

Re: Lets Plan Now.

I drove through both Austin and San Antonio before and I can tell you that Austin seemed to have plenty to do.  If you are looking for a low key time, go to san antonio and sight see… but if you want to live it up, Austin won't disappoint.

Agreed. From what I hear, Austin is a great town. But don't forget about the "Miami" of Texas an hour south.

Re: Lets Plan Now.

Austin has a great live music scene (Sixth Street), and it inspired the PBS show "Austin City Limits."  Here is a link:

about austin's 6th street

Also, when the Owls play there (Aug. 30, 2008), it will be the first day of the annual two-day Bat Fest (!!!), essentially at one end of the Sixth Street music district. (Texas has a lot of crazy festivals.) Here is the Bat Fest link:

I have heard, reliably, that whiskey is sold nearby. I can hardly wait….

Re: Lets Plan Now.

Austin has an unreal music scene, the host of the annual SXSW festival. The bats are an awesome part of the town as well. They have the largest concentrated population of bats in the United States if I remember right, says the Discovery Channel anyway. They all live under the big bridge downtown and all of them come out flying at dusk, freaking thousands of them! Its supposed to be pretty surreal.

It is also the capital of hottest women in all of Texas. The women are ridiculous at UT, so there is plenty to do there! Especially the home opener, everyone will be all dolled up, well oiled and looking to make some bad decisions. You can watch the history channel when you get home!

However, I'm thinking about hitting the cold and gray of East Lansing this year. I'll make my final decision after spring practice but as of right now I give us a better chance of winning the MSU game and I'd love to see a road win considering all of the road trips I've been on to see the Owls have been losses. Maybe it's me?

Michigan State has a beautiful campus and a great game atmosphere. It isn't the nicest place to be playing in November, but you can't beat a September date at MSU. It will definitely be a game to catch if you can especially since FAU should have a real shot at pulling the upset.

Lee Collier from the FAU alumni office told me they would be chartering a plane to Texas.  When I asked her she said "Oh yeah, we have a ton of people interested and a lot of alumni out there." Nunzio and Jab were with me and probably could attest those were her words.

Minnesota would be worthless.
