What we only have two loses. We are 4-5 3-2 in sunbelt. You guys won't go anywhere. We did the same thing a few years ago when we beat ASU when they were ranked in the top 25. We finish with a winning season and didn't go bowling. You guys won't go because the sunbelt don't have any respect. NT will get the only bowl bid because they only going to give one bid to a sunbelt team. I'm sorry but they don't care about that one win. Really who cares. You lost to us, and ARK st why should you get in after losing to them. Yeah you beat one top team, but who cares. It didn't mean anything because we came out the next week and beat you guys. Yeah you guys are having a great season, but they are only going to give one sunbelt team a bowl bid.
You just make up what you want to. There are not going to be enough bowl eligiable teams from the conferences with tie-ins this year. That's why we may be able to get into a bowl when any other year, we would not. Remember, a few years ago is not this year. The Sun Belt is stronger this year than in any other year in the past. It is no longer ranked as the worst conference. That honor goes to the MAC this year. Do you even know why several of the conferences will not have enough bowl eligiable teams? Let's test your football knowledge a bit.

nmusaggies is a diehard Aggie fan and has his strong opinions, but they do not necessarily reflect the opinions of management… :
I think most NMSU fans expect a very difficult game this week. True, we have played well the past 2 games, but both were at home - one against an outmanned FIU team. We are hopeful that the team has turned the corner and can win out for a 6-5 record, but also know FAU is far from a pushover.
Our offense had tons of trouble early in the year, partly I think because the O line was young and partly because we were playing far superior teams (and partly because… well we don't have a clue ???). nmsuaggies is right about Buck Pierce, he is a very productive QB - not flashy, just accurate and resourceful - and he has played well in just about every game - even Arkansas - though obviously we were overwhelmed there.
I know FAU has a pretty good defense- and you guys were playing very well early in the year - beat Hawaii and UNT, but you have stumbled some lately. If FAU is anything like NMSU - injuries kill you later in the year. That is the big difference I see in 1A and 1AA - playing 2 or 3 BCS teams tends to take it's toll.
Best of luck in the Sun Belt - I think it will be a great conference someday, with FAU one of the leaders.
Oh, and …
NMSU 23
FAU 21 ;)

As for the Sunbelt/MAC comparison, I said it before and I will say it again, the MAC has slipped a great deal from last year with more teams falling back in the conference. However, the teams at the top are very good. While the SBC may be more balanced, the top teams in the MAC are better than the top teams in the SBC. Northern Illinois is #22 in the country. Where is the top SBC team? ??? It depends on how you judge a conference. Lots of teams around .500 or two or three teams winning .750 or more of their games. Arguments can be made for both cases. However, NIU appears to have the ege over the best SBC team whether it be NMSU, Troy, or North Texas.
NMSU is going to struggle in the WAC, don't expect much in the early going. NMSU will take some serious lumps.
As for the SBC bowl possibilities, I think Troy will be given the edge. They have had nationally televised games and people will remember the game against Missouri as an indicator of the strength of Troy. Overall, Troy is a more recognizable name than NMSU and it all has to do with ratings. Who is going to watch a team that they aren't familiar with if they can watch a team that they have seen before on national television? From the perspective of getting viewers, most people will tune in to see a team they are familiar with, especially if they remember the win against Missouri. Not to say that this is fair, but it is reality. :'( GO OWLS!!!
