I've seen a lot of freshmen buying FAU stuff at the bookstore and the Owl Wear store. Fortunately we went through the branding process so we don't have the angry chicken anymore and we're splashing the logo across a hundred different types of apparel. This inspires people to buy more stuff, which means more of their wardrobe will have FAU. It seems like everyone has an FAU shirt/hat/hoodie these days. I just wish the non-clothing selection was as good…

I was wearing an FAU shirt at the gym a few weeks ago and I was stopped by someone who said "go owls." It shocked me; there aren't many owls here in san antonio. It was a fan of FAU, never a student, who grew up in Hollywood. He said he is a fan of college football and a huge fan of the Hurricanes, but when Schnelley came to FAU, he started following the Owls.

He also said he will be at the game in Austin.

I drive to Singer Island every day and usually see an FAU car sticker or three. The other day I saw a guy in his boat at the Sailfish Marina wearing an FAU shirt. I mentioned it and he said "Go Owls".

lol i dont walk out of the house without something fau on me......i am now commuting to Wellington everyday and i see atleast 1 fau license plate, plate frame, or sticker per day.....makes me pretty proud!

Not only that, I envision FAU having as high as 25% being from out of state (it's currently ~5%). I don't quite understand why FAU doesn't have more out-of-state applicants… how easy of a sell is this:

You go up to Michigan, New Hampshire, Boston, etc to all the high schools in the dead of winter. You give a presentation of just hand out brochures with pictures of people laying in hammocks by the beach. You show palm tree-lined sidewalks, people on longboards, etc. Simple as that. High school students don't have to know anything else about FAU except that it's warm all the time and it's right by the beach.

I always thought that FAU should raise freshman admission standards and lower transfer admissions.  A lot of CC kids only want to spend a year at community college and get their grades up so schools don't need to look at their SAT/ACT scores.  Florida 4 years however aim more for transfers with AA's in hand.  I'm guessing it's to cater to the Florida Community College system (partnerships).

I lived and graduated from High school up in New Jersey in 2005.  I now remember going to a college fair at the library and their were reps from FIU, Arizona, Arizona State, University of San Diego, and other attractive locations.  Now looking back i wonder how did FIU send up reps to a small town in Northern New Jersey and  FAU didn't?!?!?!?  I would really like to see FAU going more national instead of only targeting people from Central and South Florida.  It's going to be key if they are ever going to truly shake off the commuter tag.

I just hope the girls are as good looking as i hear they are  (another selling point  :D).
