Marvin Sanders leaving for USC

Marvin Sanders leaving for USC

To wish him the worst of luck is a bit harsh. It doesn't matter if it's FAU or FSU, coaches come and go all the time. I don't think it was anything personal, he had connections with Kiffin and is likely being paid more. I'm sure he thought about it before accepting the job and just decided he would be a better fit at USC. They're eligible for a bowl game this coming season and many people have talked about them being pre-season # 1.

Let's face it, if USC came calling about a HC job there's zero doubt in my mind that Pelini wouldn't at least listen to what they have to say. Whether it been 3 months or 3 years on the job

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

I agree the comment is harsh but I DO FEEL that an adult has the responsibility to do the right thing and to tell USC sorry but I have made a commmitment here for this year, especially being the DC! Life is not always about only you! Sorry to see him go.

……………….

Cant say I expected this. I knew that its always a possiblity but I honestly thought we'd get one year at least.

Timing is the best it could be, but still this hurts.

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.

You don't think he talked to Pelini before he took the job? He likely did and Pelini was cool with it because the defense will be his anyway. He did not really need Sanders, especially when he was not that good of a recruiter.

We can all sugar-coat it all we want…including Pelini.

It was his first "great" hire and now it suddenly doesn't matter that much.  i call BS.  The guy stayed a month or so.

I think it says a lot and it sucks!

Come on. He's been here all of two months. He's living out of a hotel. The season hasn't started. Practice hasn't started. The guy really doesn't owe us anything.

It's not just a coaching thing. People in Florida quit their jobs all the time out of nowhere, whether they've been there 20 minutes or 20 years.

No one's immune, not even USC. Case in point: they lost Pete Carroll to the Seahawks when they were doing well and had to replace him.

We can expect more of this type of thing until we can pay competitive salaries.

Now we do pay a competitive salary….for the Sun Belt.  If you are waiting for them to pay on the same level as USC, then it's going to be a while…

It will be a long time to be able to pay USC type money.  We're still low in pay scale relative to some other Belt schools.  The answer is to win and fill more seats.
