These guys are from Boca and will be in the Big Easy Cheering for their Owls!
I'm sorry, Boca does not allow ugly people to live here.

You know what the difference between those years and this year? You were good back then.
Namely, you had D'Angelo Williams.
and you had/have what??? nothing…
a football TEAM is more than one guy…Danny Wimprine (CFL), DeAngelo Williams (NFL, Car Panthers), Mo Avery (NFL Europe), Steven Gostkowski (NFL, NE Patriots)…they all helped to get us to bowl games.
and now guys like Martin Hankins, Carlos Singleton, Joe Doss, Duke Calhoun, etc are doing the same thing.
look at Memphis basketball…we're more than Derrick Rose…it's CDR, Joey Dorsey etc.
it's called a TEAM effort.
Go Tigers!!!
Drew
Oh OK that explains a lot.. CFL players and NFL Europe! How about Jared Allen (NFL europe/Tampa Bay Bucs), Chris Laskowski (Indianpolis Colts). They helped us get into the I-AA playoffs. How many national championships does your coach have? How many bowl games has he won? since you like comparing things so much, let's compare
Howard is 4-0 in Bowl Games and is a HOF coach. Has anyone outside of Memphis heard of your coach?
LMFAO…1-AA playoffs, we could go win that right now…i would rather play in the NO bowl than EVER play 1-AA football.
in the history of Memphis football, we've never lost to a 1-AA.
guys like Issac Bruce (NFL, STL Rams)…Mike Mckenzie (NFL, NO Saints)…DeAngelo Williams (NFL, CAR Panthers)….Idrees Bashir (NFL, Indy Colts)…Stephen Gostkowski (NFL, NE Pats)…Marcus Bell (NFL, ARI Cards)…Artis Hicks (NFL, MIN Vikings)…Reggie Howard (NFL, CAR Panthers)…Michael Stone (NFL, HOU Texans)
those are the current Tigers in the NFL…Memphis has had over 100 NFL players.
Memphis also has many current NBA and MLB players…
you ask about Tommy West???
he was a team captain and played TE at Tennessee…
he was drafted and played TE for the Tampa Bay Bucs…
was an asst coach for Tennessee, South Carolina, and Clemson…
he was hired as the UT-Chatt head man and coached Terrell Owens…
was hired as the Clemson head coach in 1993…
while at Clemson he went 31-28 and played in 4 bowls in 5 years…
Tommy West was named Memphis head coach in 2000…
Tommy West has gotten Memphis to 4 bowl in 5 years…
Tommy makes around 950,000 dollars per year at Memphis.
Go Tigers!!!
Drew
Stop it. stAte just went D1-A in 1991, and we lost to them MULTIPLE times in the past, so don't go letting your mouth write checks your "crack research department" can't cash.
As for the length of time our football team has been playing, the West Tennessee Normal School (our university started it's life as a teachers college) fielded it's first team in 1912, so by my calculations, we are playing our 95th season.
as a division 1-AA program…i believe they tied us once in the late 80's just before they went D1…but thats neither here nor there…there is nothing wrong with being 1-AA…it's just that it's not equal footing…they don't have the scholarships…they don't have the budgets…they don't have the facilities…it makes it almost impossible to really compete.
as for the when did we start playing football comment, you should read more closely…i simply said we didn't become competitive until around 1950…1-2 seasons played against high school squads and local JuCo's don't really count as a real college season…thats not to say those seasons didn't happen…but it had little effect on todays program.
either way…take a deep breath and calm down…enjoy yourself!
Go Tigers!!!

I believe the Mullet was ruled illegal by the Florida Supreme Court back in 1991.
GO OWLS!

or this one
or the big daddy
These are the grills we care about in Memphis….
I assume you do Memphis in May. Ever heard of Mike Mills, Apple City BBQ??
GO OWLS!!!
I know him. I was one of the two founders of the Holy Smokers, TOO. We won it twice in Whole Hog (1983, 1988). Apple City did a really good job. And learned a little bit from us as they were "learning". Good guys.
Go, Tigers, Go!
Re: Memphis fan picture thread
Don't go blowing your cred. with what you "think" on someone else's board, where someone who knows how to Google can blow you out of the water. Just going back to 1950, stAte beat us in 53, 55, 75, 86, and 89. All the while being D1-AA. As for things having an effect on today's program, I'd say anything before we joined C-USA in 1996 has had little effect on TODAY'S program. As good as some of those years were (1963, etc.), our STUPID administrations did not capitalize on those sucesses and get us into a big time conference.UofMemphis said
