MG3 Practicing at WR

Post

I am skeptical about all of this stuff.  The staff doesn't want photos taken and details of practices to get out, and then suddenly they release details like this.  I will believe what is going on when we line up and play a game.

Now that I've had time to think about it, it's not the actual move that has me aggravated. It's the fact it took our coaches THIS LONG to figure out that German was better off at WR. That's astounding to me, and you have to now question the talent evaluation skills of our staff.

But as someone else (and Dieter) said, this is the same group that pulled the Curtis/Wilbert switcheroo, so we shouldn't be surprised. It worked once, but the chances of it working again are slim. I just feel bad for the players, who are now nine games out from the opener and have no idea who their on-field leader on offense is going to be.

CP comes from Nebraska I think he knows what he's doing and I have all the confidence in the world in his decision making  :Smug:

This is a guy who once assaulted a cameraman on the field after a game and has managed to alienate many in the athletic office with his douchebaggery in just a short period of time. And the only reason he got the job at Nebraska initially was because of his brother. The same brother who could well be on his way out of Lincoln very quickly if the Huskers give up 63 and 72 points in games like they did last year and lose four games yet again. And what exactly makes you think you know what he's doing so far?

While I still have a positive attitude for this season, this switcheroo makes me nervous.  It could be a ruse, it could be the greatest plan ever, or it could be a total mess, who knows.  The main concern that I have is that the QB is the team leader, the glue who can keep the team together when your down by 10 and coming into the 2  minute warning.  I think that relationship needs time to grow and solidify, and we do not have that.  I really don't want to see us take the field and look like a bunch of headless chickens with no leadership.

As for "wildcat"/owl names how about the horned owl formation?  Who knows, we could get lucky and revoloutionize the game.

Agreed, and it would be different if, like in some previous years, we had a few non-conference games to get warmed up. But ECU is our second game!

I'm not completely convinced that it's not all a ruse myself. He's so into the black ops stuff that I wouldn't be blown away that on our first play from scrimmage, Quez is at QB, German lines up at WR, then motions into the backfield and takes over as QB from there.

I think you can get p!ssed at him if we lose and look like idiots out there next week. Fair enough. But if his gamesmanship is all to keep Miami/ECU guessing what they're going to see, and it works, then he's a genius and you guys will love him.

I don't see how this can be a good idea….. After all this time, the staff is just figuring out he's NOT going to be a QB????

Maybe he is the good QB we expected, but they see something better in one of the others. There obviously is a reason for this, they see something we don't. Whether we need more talent at WR or we have a few extra QB options to allow this, we will see soon enough.

GO OWLS!

The receivers are good..At one point the were the deepest part of the team...Just have to get the ball to them.....

Think about the option you do have with three or even four qb's on the field at one time. The D will NEVER know if a hand off or pitch or backwards pass to a "wr" is going to lead to another pass. Some teams try this once a year or less, we could try it, to put it nicely, A LOT each and every game. Talk about putting a D on it's heels! That is also A LOT of fast quick athletes to defend on every play. It really could set a new trend and if it works, be on ESPN highlights EVERY Game!

OR…

It is all a big ruse to keep UM guessing for the opening game. If it does work though, I would hate to be the D to face it the first time!
