Here is the problem with anncoucing possible ''restart'' times those lighting detectors go off an reset every time lighting strikes to what ever distance they had it set to.

Lets say is 15 miles if its been and the rest time is 30 min.

You can be at 29 min and 59 sec and if Lighting strikes 14.9 miles away you have to reset that clock.
So jus imagine the frustration if they kept saying there is only 15 more min the something strikes where none can here or see and we are wondering why they have not restarted.

Yeah I know its problematic due to resets, but if they said something along the lines of "Weather delay is in effect for at least 30 minutes, Estimated time of restart is XX:XX "we would at least know. Add a caveat that if additional strikes are detected we will update the estimated restart time.

They did in fact announce that the weather delay was gonna take 30 min ( but of course it lasted a lot longer) and then they made an announcement that the game was going to resume in 10 min after the delay was called off.

I must of missed that.  Saw nothing on the Video screen or on the Mini-TVs around the concourse.

In the grand scheme, these are all minor and fixable issues.  Understandably, these issues do hurt the gameday experience and it is good some of you our making athletics aware of it.  If the stadium literally could not hold that many people than we'd be in trouble, but hiring extra security, having people direct traffic (I'd imagine if the game was Saturday it would have been a little more bearable), and hiring more staff are doable tasks.  It should be celebrated that we have finally made it to this point, even if it only happens once this year.

Most of these complaints are what you can expect from a sold-out stadium in the future.

There will be considerable traffic, especially if you come in the last two hours before a game. FAU will direct it using their hired parking company. The direction will never be perfect. The parking will never be perfect.

I would pay a little more to be in an FAU-only parking lot though. I don't really want to be around Miami fans, but that's just me.

I am a season ticket holder and couldn't park where I usually park because I had to be a season ticket holder who ALSO pre-paid for parking, which is asinine. That they can fix. Adding more people to direct traffic flow (I had to field two questions about it from passing cars because the people had put up cones and left) can be fixed.

The fights will occur when people are from different teams and put into stressful situations like being hoarded into a gate or their team isn't doing well. Alcohol is part of it but people fight each other in stressful situations without substance abuse - look at Black Friday fights. There's nothing you can do about that except add more security and hope you catch it before it gets out of hand.

Weather FAU has no control over, although the rule can be modified by the NCAA because having lightning that far away (someone said it was west of Coral Springs?) is ridiculous. We're overcautious about lightning. Could FAU give periodic 15 minute updates, even if it's to say they have no new information? Absolutely.

once the lightning delay hit everyone started pouring into the Delray Acura Deck and you couldn't move in there. It took me 10 minutes to get to the bathroom. They definitely need better crowd control in highly-populated areas once they tell people to find cover.

The scoreboard stopped updating yardage around the 2nd quarter and that could be fixed.

The announcer was forgettable. There was no "Alright Owl fans, let's hold them here!" announcement, for instance, and no "Owls up!" for the extra point attempts, etc. At least that I can remember.

The cheerleaders could hang out over by the student section and tell them to shut up when FAU is on offense. An anti-cheerleading, if you will.

Overall the experience was exactly what I expected so I can't really complain. It was busy. Things happen when it's busy. Complaining about how crazy it was is ineffective. It's like going to Disney World and complaining about the lines. You're at Disney World. That's what happens. Here you went to a sold out game. It's going to have traffic and crowd problems. Could they be tweaked? Sure. And they may be, after the surveys. But we're not going to deal with the issue for the rest of the year and who knows how long til we sell out again. So it's kinda one and done.

The security issue is the only one that really sets me off. It was unacceptable at that gate not to have anyone outside manning the crowd. Your Disney point is valid, but Disney controls the lines by creating patways which FA didnt do.  Having a cocktail thrown in my chest, and calling for the cops only  to then have no response is what set me off enough to write the letter.

Fights , drunks, crowds, tough things to control. My gripe is sooo easy to control and I watched the young girl who's job it is to verify that the only people that enter the Tower , have tickets to enter the Tower,  let a group in that told her "they just wanted to check it out". Unbelievable !! I entered the Tower from the north. Not the big stairs near the statue.I was visiting some friends and that was the nearest entrance. The owner of the security company was at the game and I almost said something to him. But that's not my job and I didn't want to be "that"  guy. I pay for the right to use the Tower. If FAU can't control this , I will gladly spend half as much on tickets and tell the genius at the stairs that I just want to check it out. Damn that burns my butt.It is ok to tell some one NO you can't go in without the proper ticket. Seems simple to me.

Agreed…I totally expected to see drunks and fights at a game like this, no matter what you do you can't control all of those things. What you can control is your staff knowing who is allowed to park where, and who is allowed into what area of the stadium. Sounds like they had the wrong security people in the wrong spots, they needed the tough guy that wouldn't let me use my parking pass to valet in the tower lol, or the guy that took off else to cheering on our team in our home stadium maybe would have been better there.

A lot of this I realize was out of control due to the lighting delay, when the delay hit the Acura club got filled…and there were lots of folks there that were not supposed to be. Lots did not have bands and we partaking of the free (well paid for by our donations) drinks and food. How they got in I don't know, but clearly nit enough security I to kid react them elsewhere in that situation so I (sort of) understand. I would guess the same thing happened downstairs as well. like I said all correctable issues but everyone that had an issue should definitely let the appropriate people know so we can make the experience better for everyone
