Minnesota Finally On (The) Board...

Welcome to the Board Prowler,

I never understood why the FIU fans have never supported their own team at Dolphin Stadium, you would think that if they came out in force they could help take that home field advantage away from FAU - which is rather hard to do at Dolphin Stadium with only 10-15,000 fans anyway.

FAU fans have to travel the farthest for a home game, then FIU fans have to travel for an away game :o and they still don't show any support for their own team and they call themselves fans.

It's almost like they don't want to help our attendance figure - whatever, but it's about supporting your team, regardless of the record of your team or that the game is meaningless. Fan support is important regardless of the opponent you play on any given Sat..

Well Bytor as you probably know, welcome to the fickled fans of Miami. I was a season ticket holder for the canes and the Fins through the seventies and eighties. The Canes attendance was pathetic, the Band looked in shambles ragged uniforms and local high schools had more members. It wasn't until Schnelly took the helm and turned that program around did things improve, dramatically. If your not putting up the numbers you will only see the loyal and an occasional tester of the water if you get my drift.

After the Miami game it must've been a painful experience to be an FIU fan and watch those games. Those fans who were still regularly attending though were real diehards, they should be commended for their devotion.

It seems that both FAU and FIU have a very strong following that while small in number is big in support. Unfortunately too many fans are very casual and neither school has really developed a solid fan base of die-hards. I would love to see FAU have 10,000 season ticket holders in the stands every game along with the casual fans and students. Hopefully both schools will continue to draw more fans in the near future.

I can understand that it was a tough year for FIU, it's never easy to be part of a winless season, but to have 100-200 fans at a game that is down the road from their campus, when they average 10-15K per game, and with the chance of their first victory of the year, please. And it not just last year, but previous years as well.

Then again, I am more concerned with our own problems we have in growing our fan base.

It is a little strange that FIU can't draw fans for games at Dolphin Stadium. I would think that those games would bring close to 10,000 fans for each school. FIU really needs to do something to promote that game.
