rumor has it, the ALE HOUSE on yamato is going to be where the Boca watch party is……
Wanna make this the official watch party of Owlsnest?
Done!
I've always had fun at Duffy's in Boca. The NO bowl last year was a great time.
So we going to all watch at Duffy's in Boca on St. Andrews? or Ale House on Yamato?
My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Hey all,
I am the new event coordinator for University Advacement. We are planning a HUGE PARTY. I will be meeting with Alehouse tomorrow. They are located in BOCA (where our school is) and they have a great location inside and outside. I am working with Athletics, Alumni, Facebook, MySpace, MyFAU, EVERYONE! To make the ALEHOUSE a place where OWLS can show support.

Good news!
Are they contributing to the program financially?

LOL. Leave it to Florida Owl to look something free. ;)
I don't know if they are contributing financially. I guess we'll wait for an answer. But, as reported, if the team doesn't have enough money to bring the band, cheerleaders, extra staff members and even stay the night in the hotel the night of the game, then I would suspect they don't have money to help fund a watch party. And, I would even go as far as saying that I would be upset if fans don't attend the watchparty because they don't get anything "free."
Although I would be OK with the idea of the alumni association members and Owl Club members getting something "free" and/or discounted, instead of the general fan base getting the same amenities as those dues-paying members.
But on the other hand, you want as many people there as possible to not only support the program, but to increase the awareness of the programs. So if it's marketed as an Owl Club and/or FAU NAA event, then some people may be turned off.
Ooooooo the decisions we make in higher education!
Off topic a little: The university I work for is trying to break the alumni/community thought process that things are "free." The perfect time to break that habit is when they are students; but if you don't offer students free stuff, will they participate? If you offer students a lot of free stuff, which FAU did, (and the university I work for does), then as alumni, they expect to get free stuff as well. And I'm seeing that first hand when alumni call and ask "is the alumni mixer going to offer free drinks and food?" And we aren't a dues-paying group, so we have no fees and/or revenue coming in.
But FAU does have revenue coming in through Owl Club donations/memberships and/or FAU NAA memberships.
It's an interesting debate and one that would probably be worthy of an in depth Ph.D. study.

?
Sorry, not following your response…
The reason they tanked Duffy's Boca this year as "official" host is because they (Duffy's) wouldn't give any $$$ to the program…which would seem natural given the volume we sent there…
Hopefully that is not the case with this establishment (Ale House)…
