MTSU barely had anytime to prepare for this. They had one less day than Louisville since it was an away game.
We will find the answer to that in about 2 days.

OMG! The game with Louisville (#8 team in the country) is at halftime with MTSU and MTSU is only trailing by 3 points!!!!!!!! 38-35 ??? Did we really play that well against them or did they get a bunch of injured players back? What's the difference tonight with MTSU? Cuz we are gonna need it on Saturday vs OSU! (And I may just need to change my prediction vs OSU in favor of an FAU win!)
I have to say. I was shocked when I heard that we were giving Louisville a hard-fought game last night at work. Of course, Louisville's defense has always stuggled, but I still think UL has a better unit there than FAU. Middle Tennessee as of late seems to struggle in season-opening games. Last year you would recall that Middle Tennessee only won 7-6 in the opener last year over a team that eventually went 0-12.
Middle Tennessee did not get a bunch of injured players back. Far from it. Two freshmen made their career starts last night on the offensive line that was missing six starters. I think those young men turned out to be better than expected and perhaps they should have been in the game last Saturday in Fort Lauderdale.
It was also obvious that moving Desmond Gee to widereceiver and giving Phillip Tanner and Demarco McNair more full-time roles as tailbacks would prove to be more effective. Looking at the stat sheets, it would appear that was a good move. It was probably also a good move to move Brandon Nix from center (where he was at FAU) to guard (where he's been in all the games he's played for us before).
Our snapper made his first career start last night, and judging from what I hear, he did a great job.
You have to remember something too. Last night, the mistakes were few for Middle Tennessee. The Blue Raiders made several critical and costly unforced mistakes against FAU. I distinctly remember too botched punt receiving plays that wound up being turned over to FAU deep in our own territory. One resulted in a touchdown for FAU. I also remember the snapper botching a snap that resulted in a 17-yard loss deep in MT territory on a 3rd down play. Those types of mistakes didn't happen last night.
MT seemed to play gingerly trying not to lose against FAU. They played out of their heads and with a "Who the heck cares? Let's just do it" fiery attitude against Louisville.
Oklahoma State won't walk all over FAU, but I'd be very surprised if FAU actually won even still. FAU and MT both looked really sloppy last Saturday. It's obvious that Middle Tennessee's personnel adjustments were the key to a better game in Week 2. FAU won't beat Oklahoma State playing like they did against Middle Tennessee. No way the Big 12 Pokes make the same freshman-type mistakes that the Blue Raiders did when MT played FAU.
I really hope FAU wins because it's good for the conference and it helps our SOS, but FAU will have to play cleaner and rely less on their opponents' own miscues to pull out wins.

This isn't to discount what happened last night. Good job of MTSU representing the Belt, but if you read the MTSU message boards, they are talking about winning the rest of their conference games, how FAU better run the table to get to NO, and how after 1 week their makeshift O-line is all fixed, etc. As if it was more likely that what happened last night was the norm and Saturday was the abberation. What I saw from the MTSU offense was that it was going against a bad tackling UL defense coming off a short week. It took UL a half, but they shut you down in the 2nd half. MTSU's last 7 drives ended in: INT, punt, punt, missed FG, fumble, rushing TD, INT.
