Re: my spirit has been dashed

ok…..i am feeling a little hostility over here so i thought i would just clear up a couple matters.  first of all…when i refered to the band as a bunch of music pansies or whatever for getting a little mist on them it wasn't so much the band i was refering to but more of the spirit of the fau owls that we have come to love and cherish.  in my day….when i was kicking some ass on the piccolo it would have taken a tornado….and we're talking a "f5" ,to get me to leave the field or stands.  i always felt that if the football team can play….then dammit i can play for them and keep their spirits up and motivated.  secondly…..the band book "music do's, notes and don'ts" by R.Burgundy clearly emphasises that even if the music director tells you to get off the field….then at a minimum he must be questioned about why he would want this and excluding the current fau music director, might have some cash riding on the game or be related to someone on the other team possibly. so i guess in summary let me say this… i love my owls, i live for the band, and dammit i love my piccolo and the next time it's cloudy out…..i hope the band is there and not at hooters down the street or something.

wow…is that really stated in the book??

good thing out national armed forces doesnt operate this way…seems something like that undermines the very premise of "leadership"…

Please note the author of the book "music do's and don'ts"; R. Burgundy. I can only assume this is the infamous anchorman Ron Burgundy of the 1970's San Diego evening news.

"Brick, I've been meaning to talk to you about that. You should find yourself a safehouse or a relative close by. Lay low for a while, because you're probably wanted for murder."

First off, if you love FAU so much how come you couldn't be bothered to go to the game?  Also, its been pretty damn cloudy all week, so I guess that means I'm about to go to Hooters and not out to Baseball B to practice in the rain, again.

Re: my spirit has been dashed

I'm not in the band and I've never played an instrument but I know those kids play their hearts out. If the band leader tells them to get out of the rain they're not going to disobey him. No need to bash the band they are at every football game, they get the crowd into it and they're even starting some of the cheers. They are just as much die hard fans as any of us. I know someone said it before but this kid is just trying to stir things up, not sure why he chose to pick on the band. So far not one person has agreed with him. I bet he kinda feels stupid for posting this now lol.

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Re: my spirit has been dashed

ok….i just had to respond to fau tuba's comments.  first of all "fau tuba" ….i'm on your side!  in fact…right after the piccolo the tuba is probably my 12th or 13th favorite instrument!  and the only reason i wasn't at the game that day was because jesus christ did you see the weather outside that day?!  forget it!  i didn't even let my dogs out to go to the bathroom because it was so bad out.  they pissed all over my rugs but that's besides the point.  my point is simply this…….if the band doesn't want to play and would rather chill out at hooters or whatever then so be it.  but dammit i'm proud of fau and our football team! i may be the only one who feels this way but i think the fau band should want to play for their school instead of running off when it rains.  oh sure…..the football team played in it but they have helmets is the excuse i always hear….but without the band playing….what does the football team become?  yep…..a sad football team.  i hope they find their hearts and stay the next game.  that's all.
